Dear Members and Guests,

In the spirit of baseball's boys of summer, I'm pinch-hitting here for our president and CEO, Eric Affeldt - and what a season summer always is at our country clubs. School's out and families flock to the clubs for warm-weather fun and memorable activities.

What better time than summer to get the kids to the golf course to learn the game or improve their skills? Golf creates opportunities for juniors to spend time with family and friends, compete, learn etiquette and sportsmanship, and mostly have a good time. At ClubCorp, we take great pride in helping lead the industry in growing the game of golf by partnering with various organizations such as the PGA of America, the First Tee, the USGA, and the PGA Tour. Our world-class PGA golf professionals lead the efforts by offering affordable junior golf instruction, hosting weekly summer kids camps, overseeing numerous junior golf programs such as the recreational PGA Junior League, and supporting Drive, Chip & Putt competitions (the finals took place in April at Augusta National just days before the Masters).

For me, family and golf go hand in hand - whether it's watching my 10-year-old daughter, Zoe, smile as she hits it in the sweet spot, or getting heckled by my 21-year-old son, Zack, as he outdrives me by 20 yards. So I'm excited to announce the inaugural ClubCorp National Parent-Child tournament, which will be hosted next year at one of our top clubs. Look for more information soon about qualifying tournaments that families can participate in at clubs across the country leading up to the national event.

With successful, young players such as Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, Jason Day, and Rickie Fowler leading the charge as golf's new role models, no doubt the game of golf is in good hands. So head to the course as a family and join the movement. I can't think of a better way to spend a sunny, summer day!
