Former President George W. Bush hosts The Warrior Open, a competitive golf tournament kicking off today at the Las Colinas Country Club in Irving, Texas. ClubCorp is also sponsoring this event which features and honors post–9/11 U.S. Armed Forces members who were wounded in combat. In addition to honoring those who serve our country, the Warrior Open also honors the many organizations that support the military and their families.
Pre-tournament events began yesterday with The Warrior Open Pro-Am where professional golfers including Justin Leonard, Paul Stankowski, David Graham, Finley Ewing, Chris Parra, Joe Ogilvie, Ryan Palmer, Martin Flores, Jim Holtgrieve and JJ Henry, played alongside the warriors, caddies and military organizations. This was an opportunity for the players to warm-up, enjoy themselves and chat with President Bush, who rode around to every hole visiting the players and taking pictures with family members.
After a color guard ceremony, the national anthem and remarks from President Bush, the 24 players will take to the course to begin their first day of golf. The Warrior Open is not open to the public, but you can follow the action through The Bush Center’s website, leaderboard and Twitter account, @TheBushCenter.
