Today is the official day of the 2014 ClubCorp Charity Classic. Although most clubs already have held their events or will be holding them at a later date, eight clubs are holding their events today with several more clubs' events taking place through the weekend. In addition to the golf tournaments and dinners, activities and events include a:
- Golf Outing and Hawaiian Luau at April Sound Country Club in Montgomery, Texas
- An Iron Chef team cook-off at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston
- “Memphis Music Masters II” featuring musical performances, spectacular food and spirits at The Crescent Club in Memphis, Tennessee
- Family Fun Day and 5K Run at Canterwood Golf & Country Club in Gig Harbor, Washington
When a club hosts their Charity Classic, the doors to the club are open to the public to help support three great causes: the ClubCorp Employee Partners Care Foundation, Augie's Quest/ALS Therapy Development Institute, and the local charity you have chosen to support. It is a day to create a fantastic community event, showcase your club to non-Members, and to raise money for charity.
Good luck with your events!
On Wednesday, October 10, 2012, 105 members and guests came out for the annual Think Pink golf tournament at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, raising an estimated $14,000 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
The event was hosted by the Club’s Women’s Golf Association and the Bay Oaks Old Boys Society, fittingly known as the BOOBS.
It was a beautiful morning, sunny with a nice breeze, when the group teed off. Almost every shade of pink was worn by the participants and many in the group got very creative with their outfits.
For lunch, the Club prepared pasta with pink sauce, watermelon and signature pink cocktails.
At the end, prizes were awarded for first, second and third places as well as for the most accurate drive, the shot closest to the pin and even for the highest score.
The awards were wine cork necklaces, handmade by a family member of the assistant golf pro.
Since 1982, Susan G. Komen for the Cure has been one of the biggest names in the fight against breast cancer, funding research and programs to help turn millions of breast cancer patients into breast cancer survivors.
Thank you to all who attended and helped make this annual event a fun and successful one at Bay Oaks!
A special visitor stopped by the Couples Golf Tournament at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston recently. For this fun event, the club had constructed a floating green out of pool noodles and asked players to hit the green. At some point during the day, the reptilian resident decided the noodles would be a great place to lounge. The alligator didn’t spoil the festivities but rather hung out, caught a few rays and watched some great golf.
