Members and staff of The Houston Club bid a Fond Farewell to the club’s previous location when the building – within viewing distance of the club’s current location – was recently imploded. The club held a viewing party breakfast for the 7:00 a.m. implosion with Members showing up as early as 4:00 a.m. to ensure they had a good view and to give themselves time to reminisce. In addition, a local television news station was on hand to cover the event.
As the club was in its previous location for more than 50 years, it was an emotional morning with many Members, including four past Board of Governors Presidents, remembering old times but also celebrating the club’s new location as well. The staff also was able to get some bricks from the old building, which were then sold during the club’s Charity Classic event.
The event gave the Members an opportunity for a long goodbye that really took only a few minutes.
