When the Golf Staff at Gleneagles Country Club in Plano, Texas, first created STAG, the club’s weekly men’s golf gathering, they kept in mind their goal of connecting Members. Calling the event STAG fit perfectly as the word means “without a partner at a social gathering.” The nine-hole event is held Wednesday evenings with a 5:30 p.m. shotgun start and features varying formats, from Best Ball, to Scramble, even the dreaded Alternate Shot.

"We wanted to create a very low stress, fun environment that would encourage a ‘mixing’ of partners to help grow roots across the base of the Membership of the Men's Golf Association," said Chad Pinson, Head Golf Professional.

The first STAG Night was held in 2008 and only fielded 12 players. The event has grown over the years, now fielding an amazing 70 to 80 players every week, with a growing waiting list. The demand is so great that the Golf Staff will now be blocking both the front and back nine to accommodate up to 120 players.

"The biggest benefit we never anticipated was how important this event has become in our retention efforts," says Chad, "Once a new Member comes out and plays one of these events he immediately gets hooked to what we've got going on here."
