House of Castello cheese and craft beer tasting events at our Clubs are far from your average tasting.
Since Castello recently began expanding and offering different cheese flavors and types, they decided to partner with ClubCorp and host gourmet tastings at various Clubs across the nation.
The University Club Atop Symphony Towers in San Diego recently hosted a fabulous pairing of craft beer and cheese on September 20, 2012.
Upon their arrival at The Club, Members and guests were given a take-home tasting glass from the Stone Brewing Company in Escondido, Calif. to fully enjoy and remember the experience.
At each of the eight tables, attendees were first able to taste the cheese in its’ natural state and then prepared as an hors d’oeuvre, perfectly paired with a select craft beer.
Spanning the entire length of the Laureate Ballroom, eight perfectly-paired cheese and beer stations offered intriguing flavors such as Castello wild garlic havarti deep-fried macaroni and cheese, which was paired with the San Diego area’s own Iron Fist Brewing Company's Renegade Blonde. Another favorite pairing was the Castello soft blue and port poached cherry crostini with Lost Abbey Red Barn Farmhouse Ale, another local San Diego craft beer company.
Helping to coordinate the pairings was Matt Simpson, craft beer consultant and owner of The Beer Sommelier. He is pictured above with attendees of the Symphony Towers event.
After guests visited all of the stations, each guest was able to take home a House of Castello gift bag full of cheeses, recipes, coupons and other gifts.
