For nearly 10 years, Kasia Kwiatkowska, Membership Director at the Skyline Club in Indianapolis, dreamed about the day she would take the Oath of Allegiance and become an American citizen. Kasia came to the United States from Poland 10 years ago, fresh out of college with just $300 and still learning the English language. It was long, winding and sometimes difficult journey that brought Kasia to Indianapolis and, in 2015, her role at the Skyline Club – which Kasia calls “a match made in heaven."
When the day of Kasia’s Oath of Allegiance and naturalization ceremony finally came, no one from her family – who still live in Poland – could be there, but her ClubCorp family could and they did. Boy, did they! So many fellow Employee Partners attended the ceremony that Kasia had the largest group of supporters in the room. There to cheer Kasia on were Skyline Club General Manager Jeff Markowicz, Sharon Szymanski, ClubCorp Senior Vice President, Membership, and Joyce Laurien, Vice President, Membership Sales (who both flew in from out of town for the ceremony), several other Club staff members, Members and even a few relatives of one of Kasia’s co-workers.
After the ceremony, the group headed back to the Club to enjoy a Polish American Buffet prepared by Executive Chef Eric Hollen. More than 60 people attended – including many Members – all there to celebrate Kasia’s citizenship.
“It would have broken my heart to have been alone at the ceremony,” said Kasia. “Instead I had the most amazing day ever. I feel extremely lucky to be surrounded by and work with so many wonderful people.”
More than 250 Members of TPC Piper Glen in Charlotte, North Carolina - which ClubCorp acquired in late April - gathered last month to celebrate the club’s new “partnership” with ClubCorp.
The evening began with a brief presentation featuring the new benefits of ClubCorp membership, reinvention before and after photos from various clubs, and ClubCorp’s history and culture.
The Members were then treated to a night of fun and excitement, including live music, elaborate food stations and signature drink specials throughout the clubhouse and on the scenic patio. The party was such a hit that many Members commented over the next few days that they had never seen so many people at the club and that the party was the talk of the community.
Congratulations to the TPC Piper Glen staff and the ClubCorp regional Employee Partners who all teamed up for such a grand Warm Welcome!

Jon Peterson, a Member at ClubCorp's Granite Bay Golf Club in Granite Bay, California, will compete August 13-19 in the 2012 U.S. Amateur Championship at Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado. Organized by the USGA, the U.S. Amateur is the leading annual golf tournament in the United States for amateur golfers. Past U.S. Amateur champions include Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, and Phil Mickelson.
Peterson, who has won the Club Championship at Granite Bay three years running, qualified for the Championship in July when he earned medalist honors at the U.S. Amateur Qualifier at Butte Creek Country Club in Chico, California. Jon bested the field with rounds of 71and 67 giving him a score of 138 (6 under par), including making birdies on his final two holes, to win by one shot and claim one of only two available spots.
Congratulations and Good Luck, Jon!
Abe Plough, a member at The Crescent Club in Memphis, was perusing some historic black-and-white framed photos of Memphis hanging on the walls of the club recently. One of the photos caught his eye and he happened to take a closer look.
The photo was of Elvis Presley and the Carnival Court taken at The Crescent Club in 1956 and there in the photo was Abe himself – then a young boy – standing right behind Elvis! He had never seen the photo before that moment and was thrilled to discover it at the club.
Vanessa O’Brien, a Member at ClubCorp's Boston College Club, summited Mount Everest in May. While perched atop the highest spot on Earth, she posed – in 40 to 50 mile-per-hour winds – with the club flag for a photo. O’Brien trained in the Boston College Club building and took the photo as a thank-you for all the support she had received.
O’Brien’s goal is to climb the Seven Summits – the highest mountains of each of the seven continents – and since conquering Mount Everest in May, she summited Mount McKinley last month.
In honor of ClubCorp's 55th Anniversary, we have been offering a special membership program to the direct family of Club Members: a club membership at $55 to join and $55 per month for the first year.
This program allows the Club Member to sponsor family members at any participating ClubCorp Club (that offers the specific level of membership). The response to this program has been overwhelming, and there is still time to take advantage of it....but not much time.
The offer expires on July 16th, so if you are a ClubCorp Club Member and have been contemplating this offer, it's time to act. There are some restrictions to the membership and where it is offered, so please contact your Club's Membership Director for all the information.
To read more about the program online or to sponsor a family member on our online form, visit our 55 Celebration Membership Offer site at: http://www.clubcorp.com/55-Offer/55-Celebration
