Even though the 12 days of Christmas technically takes place from Christmas to January 5th, a couple of Employee Partners from our marketing team thought it would be fun to create a ClubCorp version of the song for the 12 days leading up to Christmas! Maybe you saw our social media posts and tweets? If not, have no fear! Here’s a copy of the song for you to sing along to and cheer! We’ll save you the trouble of going day by day; here’s the ClubCorp Christmas Song for Day 12! Enjoy!

The holidays at Oak Pointe Country Club are all about creating magic moments for Members! The Club started the holiday season off with a Pumpkin Pie Family Night, wherekids get to play chef and make their own pumpkin pies. Ingredients are lined up on long tables and Executive Chef Pat Srock helps the littlest Members prepare and mix the pies. While the pies cook, Member Relations Coordinator Dori Gulick entertains the children with games and races.

During Gingerbread Night the tables overflow with candy, frosting and gingerbread houses. Parents and grandparents come to watch, help decorate and dine. This year, two special guests – an elf and one of Santa’s reindeer – stopped in to check on the children.

The Santa Brunch is the grand finale with Santa Claus sitting in a sleigh –  made of real gingerbread and frosting! – surrounded by Christmas trees, reindeer and even a mailbox for Santa’s letters. Entire families, including the parents and grandparents, get their photos taken with Santa. By the end of the event, the mailbox is full of letters from the kids, who each later receive a letter back from Santa. Many of the kids inevitably ask, “Where is Santa’s real sleigh?” and the answer is always, "Up on the roof with the reindeer, of course!"

Great job to the Oak Pointe staff for working together as a team to offer these wonderful events to Members!

Emmitt Smith, eight-time Pro Bowler and four-time First Team All-Pro and Hall of Famer is at it again…but this time off the football field! Emmitt and his wife Pat care deeply about underprivileged kids' futures, which led them to create the Pat and Emmitt Smith Charities “which offer kids education and experiences that broaden their opportunities for success.”

To help raise awareness and funds for their organization, the Smiths will host seven qualifying golf tournaments around the country, evaluating a team’s “fundraising skills[and]…golf ability.” At the end of the qualifying rounds, “the highest fundraising team and the best golfers from each tournament will be invited to the Emmitt Smith Celebrity Invitational” in Dallas in May.

On Saturday December 7th Venus Williams stopped by Mission Hills Country Club to showcase her tennis and active wear line, EleVen by Venus. Inspired by her legendary tennis career, Venus wanted to create a clothing line that did not restrict movement and that “allowed you to express your individuality, cultivate strength and confidence and makes you feel good every time you put it on” (quote courtesy of https://elevenbyvenus.com/).

To exhibit her clothes, Venus put on a fashion show at Mission Hills, which was a huge success! Members were so excited about the clothes that they even bought quite a few items at the Pro Shop after the show.

Aside from the fashion show, there was a Q&A session with Venus where she reflected on her tennis career. Incase you didn’t know, Venus holds 22 Grand Slam titles (seven in singles, 13 in women’s doubles and two in mixed doubles), is considered one of the best grass court players, is a former World No. 1 ranked player and is an all-time great in women’s tennis! Oh, did we forget to mention the four Olympic gold medals she won too? Needless to say, Venus has had an amazing tennis career and has a promising future with her clothing line and other endeavors.

EleVen’s motto “look good, play well” was illustrated at Mission Hills not only in the fashion show that took place, but on the faces of all the Members wearing their new clothes.

University of North Carolina students who were unable to travel home for Thanksgiving still enjoyed a deliciously grand meal at The Carolina Club, which hosted a Member-sponsored Thanksgiving feast for all those left on campus.

According to WNCN News, Brian Gottfried, a UNC senior, couldn't travel home for the holiday because he is "a member of the marching band who was playing at the football gam

e that weekend." He was “incredibly grateful. I think Thanksgiving is a great holiday to be able to share with a lot of people and being able to share it with the students and having the generosity to be able to do that in a time when a lot of people are off doing their own thing has been wonderful."

In the spirit of giving, Carolina Club Members paid for students' dinners, some Members providing as many as 10 meals. Overall 195 students from 30 countries enjoyed a meal the Carolina Club this Thanksgiving.

A special thanks to the sponsors of the event, The Carolina Club Members and the UNC Educational Foundation for their kindness and generosity.
