ClubCorp’s newest golf tournament is just around the corner! The inaugural Puerto Vallarta Couples Best Ball challenge will take place February 20 – 23, 2014.
Participants will enjoy three nights at the luxurious Casa Velas Hotel Boutique & Beach Club, three rounds of golf at beautiful Marina Vallarta and Vista Vallarta, complimentary meals and cocktail parties, airport and golf course ground transfers as well as a welcome gift bag! It’s going to be an incredible tournament with great competition and all the beauty of a lush, tropical paradise. The only question is…have you started packing yet?
Contact Kathy.Walker@ClubCorp.com for registration information.
There’s a new tournament in town!
The tournament will take place April 27 – 29 on Oak Tree’s fierce East Course, a 7,100-yard championship layout designed by the legendary Pete Dye. Scattered with bunkers, the East Course’s challenging landscape has crowned champions like Bob Tway, Gil Morgan, David Edwards, Todd Hamilton and Lucas Glover.
The course’s signature hole is the #16 – a par-4 neighbored by a daunting water hazard down the entire left side of the fairway; a true embodiment of the East Course’s relentless intensity.
If anyone is fit to take on the challenge, it’s the men of Conference USA. We look forward to welcoming them to Oak Tree Country Club in April.
Two schools. One champion. Who will emerge victorious?
Tonight the No. 1 ACC Florida State Seminoles take on the No. 2 SEC Auburn Tigers in the 2014 BCS National Championship. While both teams vie for the BCS title, we’re a little biased in rooting for a Seminoles win; with a world-class alumni club on the campus, and with Heisman-winning quarterback Jameis Winston and the team’s undefeated season, we think they can pull off a victory.
Members of the University Center Club at Florida State University will cheer on the Seminoles at a Club-hosted viewing party tonight. The Club’s Osceola Grille is the spot, and the executive chef has prepared a feast fit for champions so Members can snack in style and root for their team.
Call the club, join the party and help us cheer on the Seminoles in the champion-making game!

Even though the 12 days of Christmas technically takes place from Christmas to January 5th, a couple of Employee Partners from our marketing team thought it would be fun to create a ClubCorp version of the song for the 12 days leading up to Christmas! Maybe you saw our social media posts and tweets? If not, have no fear! Here’s a copy of the song for you to sing along to and cheer! We’ll save you the trouble of going day by day; here’s the ClubCorp Christmas Song for Day 12! Enjoy!

The holidays at Oak Pointe Country Club are all about creating magic moments for Members! The Club started the holiday season off with a Pumpkin Pie Family Night, wherekids get to play chef and make their own pumpkin pies. Ingredients are lined up on long tables and Executive Chef Pat Srock helps the littlest Members prepare and mix the pies. While the pies cook, Member Relations Coordinator Dori Gulick entertains the children with games and races.
During Gingerbread Night the tables overflow with candy, frosting and gingerbread houses. Parents and grandparents come to watch, help decorate and dine. This year, two special guests – an elf and one of Santa’s reindeer – stopped in to check on the children.
The Santa Brunch is the grand finale with Santa Claus sitting in a sleigh – made of real gingerbread and frosting! – surrounded by Christmas trees, reindeer and even a mailbox for Santa’s letters. Entire families, including the parents and grandparents, get their photos taken with Santa. By the end of the event, the mailbox is full of letters from the kids, who each later receive a letter back from Santa. Many of the kids inevitably ask, “Where is Santa’s real sleigh?” and the answer is always, "Up on the roof with the reindeer, of course!"
Great job to the Oak Pointe staff for working together as a team to offer these wonderful events to Members!
Emmitt Smith, eight-time Pro Bowler and four-time First Team All-Pro and Hall of Famer is at it again…but this time off the football field! Emmitt and his wife Pat care deeply about underprivileged kids' futures, which led them to create the Pat and Emmitt Smith Charities “which offer kids education and experiences that broaden their opportunities for success.”
To help raise awareness and funds for their organization, the Smiths will host seven qualifying golf tournaments around the country, evaluating a team’s “fundraising skills[and]…golf ability.” At the end of the qualifying rounds, “the highest fundraising team and the best golfers from each tournament will be invited to the Emmitt Smith Celebrity Invitational” in Dallas in May.
ClubCorp is a proud sponsor of The Emmitt Smith Golf Challenge, and will host the seven qualifying rounds on the following dates:
- The Clubs of Kingwood — January 20, 2014
- The Hills of Lakeway — March 3, 2014
- Tampa Palms Country Club — March 12, 2014
- Queen’s Harbor Yacht & Country Club — March 17, 2014
- Bear’s Best Atlanta — March 25, 2014
- Las Colinas Country Club — March 31, 2014
- Haile Plantation — April 14, 2014

On Saturday December 7th Venus Williams stopped by Mission Hills Country Club to showcase her tennis and active wear line, EleVen by Venus. Inspired by her legendary tennis career, Venus wanted to create a clothing line that did not restrict movement and that “allowed you to express your individuality, cultivate strength and confidence and makes you feel good every time you put it on” (quote courtesy of https://elevenbyvenus.com/).
To exhibit her clothes, Venus put on a fashion show at Mission Hills, which was a huge success! Members were so excited about the clothes that they even bought quite a few items at the Pro Shop after the show.
Aside from the fashion show, there was a Q&A session with Venus where she reflected on her tennis career. Incase you didn’t know, Venus holds 22 Grand Slam titles (seven in singles, 13 in women’s doubles and two in mixed doubles), is considered one of the best grass court players, is a former World No. 1 ranked player and is an all-time great in women’s tennis! Oh, did we forget to mention the four Olympic gold medals she won too? Needless to say, Venus has had an amazing tennis career and has a promising future with her clothing line and other endeavors.
EleVen’s motto “look good, play well” was illustrated at Mission Hills not only in the fashion show that took place, but on the faces of all the Members wearing their new clothes.
Congratulations to Florida State University for clinching the Atlantic Coast Conference title this weekend after a 45-7 victory over Duke University. FSU is now set to play Auburn University in theBCS Championship at the Rose Bowl on January 6, 2014.
Over the weekend, the University Center Club at FSU hosted a banquet for the football team in their ballroom. Tim Drown, Regional Executive Chef at UCC, even displayed a special ice carving for the team! It was a great evening to celebrate and honor the Seminoles' achievement.
