Hickory Golf Returns to Onion Creek
The6th Annual Swift Trophy Matches, a match play tournament between hickory players from the USA and Canada, is scheduled for Thursday, March 21. The trophy is named after OCC Member Virgil Swift, who donated the outstanding bronze trophy by acclaimed sculptor Michael Roche displayed in the Onion Creek clubhouse.
On Friday and Saturday, March 22 and 23, the2013 Onion Creek Hickory Classic will be held. There is an individual play competition (gross and net) within age-groups (59 and under, 60-69 and 70 & over). There is also a scramble competition with two divisions (Open and Club). Onion Creek Club Members are encouraged to put together a four-person team and enter the Club Scramble competition.

On Thursday and Saturday, March 21 and 23, following golf, come out to Onion Creek Club and see (and/or buy) some wonderful golf antiques and memorabilia displayed on “trading tables.”
On Thursday evening, March 21, theAlamo Drafthouse Cinema will show Follow The Sun on the tenth fairway of the Original course. This is the story of Ben Hogan’s early days on the Tour and his recovery and triumphant comeback from a near-fatal crash. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and join the hickory players for a fun evening. The OCC staff will have food and drinks available. The movie is free, but please consider dropping $5.00 in a bucket which will go to the First Tee of Greater Austin.
So, on Thursday, March 21, watch some good golf, visit the Trading Tables, and then watch Follow The Sun. Then come out again on Friday and Saturday for more golf and visit the Trading Tables again on Saturday.
