Using their Signature Gold Unlimited privileges, Barry Jacobsen, and his wife, Jeanine, have visited more than 180 golf and country clubs and Barry has rated them all. His criteria include the condition of the courses and how tough they are, as well as how the couple is treated by the staff. His expertise comes in handy to his fellow Members, who call him all the time inquiring about which courses to visit and play.
“The Signature Gold Unlimited benefit is terrific,” Barry says. He and Jeanine travel more than three months out of the year and have also dined at more than 70 business clubs. The couple plans their trips around the benefit using the clubs available as a guide to map their course. In fact, when the couple is planning their trips, they find ClubLine to be of great help. “They always offer to make plans at any additional clubs in the area that we might have overlooked and are extremely helpful,” says Barry.
Standout golf clubs for the Jacobsens include Tiburón Golf Club in Naples, Florida; Lost Key Golf Club in Pensacola, Somersett Country Club in Reno, Nevada, and Gleneagles Country Club near Dallas – which got extra points for the old-school beautiful clubhouse in addition to the King’s Course, extremely challenging for the couple – and many of the properties in Canada. While dining at the Shoreby Club near Cleveland, the Jacobsens said they were treated like VIPs not only receiving exceptional service and attention, but prime seating near a window during a busy lunch.
So many of the clubs are outstanding, Barry says, and it seems as the list of clubs available gets longer, the clubs just get better, which should make his rating system and recommendations much easier in the future.
