Wedding planning is easy with our essential wedding checklist. Just follow our 12-month timeline and soon you’ll be planning like a pro.

12 months:
You’re engaged! First thing’s first – set the date, find a venue, decide on your type of ceremony (religious or civil) and start thinking about numbers. Send out save the dates, and try to firm up that budget.

9 months:
Start the search for suppliers, concentrating on photographers, bands, caterers and florists – they get booked up surprisingly far in advance, so it’s a good idea to start looking early. Plus, it’s dress shopping time! Research styles you like, then hit the boutiques for the best shopping trip EVER.

6 months:
It’s time to start thinking about your bridesmaids, so organise a fun day out to start looking at dress options. Arrange a menu tasting, choose your flowers, and think about wedding accommodation. Now’s also the time to start any DIY projects – make sure you get friends and family on board to help!

3 months:
Get your invites in the post, book the honeymoon and buy your wedding rings. Psyche yourselves up for the most epic of weddings tasks – the table plan!

1 month:
Pay off any remaining balances owed to suppliers, and confirm your final numbers and menu choices with your venue. Make sure your wedding music and ceremony order are finalised, and try not to break any bones on your hen do (likewise on his stag)!

1 week:
Finish off any DIY projects, and confirm times and details with all your suppliers. Get a manicure, pedicure and stress-busting massage, and try on your outfit to check you aren’t missing anything. Pack for your honeymoon and first night, and don’t forget to order a bottle of fizz for your hotel suite.

1 day:
Do whatever venue set-up you’re able to do and try to feel calm! Spend the evening having a relaxed (early) dinner with your immediate wedding party, but try to stay off the wine and get an early night to look your best for the day ahead – your wedding day!
