The Bernardo Heights Men’s Golf Association (MGA) is an independent organization that coordinates tournaments for its members and provides membership in the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) for the purpose of maintaining handicaps for the members. Membership in the MGA is mandatory for the establishment of a handicap and for eligibility to play in tournaments at the club as well as at other courses.
Your leagues provide some of the most exciting golf tournaments around. You’ll play challenging rounds, meet fellow Members and, with any luck, win some great prizes.
Men's Informal Groups
Bernardo Heights has more than a dozen informal men’s golfing groups for players of all abilities that meet weekly and are open to all who are interested. These groups are organized by our Members and are a wonderful way to meet new Members and play competitive golf. A list of these groups is maintained by the pro shop.
The Bernardo Heights Women’s Golf Association (WGA) coordinates tournaments and special events for its members and provides membership in the Women’s Southern California Golf Association (WSCGA) for the purpose of maintaining handicaps for our Members. We embrace the mission of the WSCGA to foster interest in amateur golf and encourage friendly competition among all women golfers.
The WGA includes both an 18-hole group and a Half Rounder, or nine-hole, group. Many of our Members join both organizations. Both groups play on Tuesday and Thursday mornings with most organized play for the Half Rounders on Tuesdays and for the 18-hole group on Thursdays. Both groups schedule a monthly luncheon meeting following a morning of golf.
The objective of the Half Rounder (HR) organization is to promote, supervise and conduct nine-hole competitive golf for women along with camaraderie, game improvement and lots of laughter. Beginners, women who only want to play nine holes, as well as those who have never held a club are encouraged to join this fun, relaxed group. Many accomplished golfers enjoy participating in HR events as well. Clinics are offered to the group periodically by our pros.
The Half Rounders participate in nine-hole tournaments with other local clubs several times a year. In addition to golf, Half Rounders enjoy many social outings together.
The WGA offers weekly 18-hole sweeps play and organizes several major tournaments, guest days, and charity events throughout the year.
Bernardo Heights Country Club has a variety of fun and competitive events for couples. These events are a great way to meet fellow club Members and play in mixed competition.
