History

Brookfield began with a vision by Howard Chatham, a successful Atlanta developer, in the early 1970s. While the neighborhood was being built out, they began constructing Brookfield West Country Club. Opening in 1972 to rave reviews within the golfing community, it quickly became one of the premier Atlanta country clubs.

In 1977, Brookfield was awarded the LPGA Tara Classic. This LPGA Tour event was a favorite tour stop among the LPGA players. While the event changed names several times, it was always hosted at Brookfield Country Club. The LPGA and Brookfield Country Club have an extensive golf history together.

In 2000, the entire golf course was reconstructed. We added a state-of-the-art irrigation system as well as all new grasses, greens and bunkers. We also addressed several agronomic concerns.
