Billy was born in Springs, South Africa in 1951 and became the top junior tennis player in the nation in 1968. He played the major professional tour from 1969 through 1975 and competed in the world’s major events including Wimbledon and the French Open. In 1974, he attained the no. 2 ranking in the nation in South Africa behind the legendary Cliff Drysdale.

Later that year, he immigrated to the United States and joined the Lakeway World of Tennis in Austin Texas, where he became the director in 1979. He attained the no. 1 ranking in Texas in 1983. In 1988, he moved back to South Africa to develop South Africa’s premier golf and leisure resort, Fancourt, where he served as the company CEO for five years.

He joined Brookhaven as the director of tennis in 1993, where he has gained many successes. The Racquet Club has become widely recognized as one of the best in the nation and was named the “Number One Tennis Organization in the USA” by the USTA, and on two occasions, was name the “Top Private Tennis Club in the USA” by Racquet Sport Industry Magazine. His personal highlight since joining Brookhaven was receiving the coveted ClubCorp Star of Stars award in 2003. Billy married Lori in 1982 and has two sons, Jimmy (24) and Eddie (20).

Dave Ware

Dave was born in Houston, Texas in 1958. However, he has spent most of his life traveling and living all over the world. After living in New Jersey, Dave began his tennis career while living overseas in Hong Kong. After moving back to the United States, he attended the University of Missouri, where he graduated with a B.S. degree in Secondary Education in Language Arts.

After college, Dave worked as a manager in the hotel industry for a few years. At this time, Dave rejoined the tennis profession as an assistant professional at the Inn and Tennis Club at Manitou in Ontario, Canada. He also was the head tennis professional at the All-Canadian Club in London, Ontario. 

Dave joined Brookhaven in 1983 and proceeded to turn Brookhaven's junior program into one of the top programs in the state in the mid to late 80's. During this time, Dave also spent time traveling on the women's professional tour where he coached numerous players. Dave is currently the head tennis professional at Brookhaven.

David Anderson

A founder of the Brookhaven Tennis Academy, David Anderson was recognized by Tennis Magazine as one of the “Top Teachers in the United States.” Among the numerous awards he received are USPTA Pro of the Year in Texas, Dallas Tennis Association Pro Volunteer of the Year, and the coveted Lloyd Session Educational Merit Award for his contribution to Junior Tennis.

In addition to a successful playing career (he had a Top 20 National Ranking and was the 1999 Texas Sectional Champion in Men’s 35 and over) Anderson, under the leadership of Stephen Smith, was at the heart of the World’s First College Curriculum for training coaches heading to careers in tennis. His unique approach to player development has helped his students capture State, Sectional, National, International and Junior Grand Slam titles. Many of his students became touring professionals and successful collegiate players. Perhaps the most important influence of David’s coaching is reflected in the people whom he helped prepare for success on and off the court by enhancing their lifetime skills and character development.
