Phones RINGING!  Emails pinging----   Text messages popping up! These are only just a couple of the sounds that are heard in the War Room over at One Buc Place during the draft.   Mark Dominik, General Manager  of our Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is going to give us an inside look at what happens, what is said, and how intense the moments are before and during the NFL Draft.   We're all interested to hear about the Darrelle Revis trade and the lengthy process it took to make the deal -  were the Buc's stalling? Was Revis unsure about coming to Tampa? What are the motivators around a trade like this?  It can't be all about the money?  How does Mark and his team rate the job they doing in evaluating talent?    How do you keep talent??  How does this translate to business?  Why was Raheem Morris not successful as Head Coach? Get these questions and more answered as we welcome Tampa Bay Buccaneers General Manager, Mark Dominik, on Thursday, May 2nd at 6pm - complimentary cocktails and passed hor d'oeuvres.  This event is open to Centre Club and Tampa Bay Society Members only and invited guests. Reservations are required given the demand and space is limited.  Contact the Club Concierge at 813.286.4040 to RSVP!

Well, the Masters just wrapped up this past Sunday which means that golf season is officially in 'full swing' up north, but for us lucky Floridians we have golf 365 days a year.  Now, the Centre Club is a private business club, which we all know does not have it's own golf course, but we have approximately 200 club members that are interested and play the game - which is why the club has officially created their own Golf club-within-the-club known as the Mad Mulligans - and YOU are invited to meet them at the first tee!  Heck - people do all kinds of business while playing golf, so why in the world shouldn't we have our own faction of golfers???  Getting this group of golf-lovers together really was a labor of love over the last two years or so and we owe a great deal of gratitude to club member, Amory Sanders, for getting the golf "ball" rolling.  We are certain this Maddest of the Mulligans (or committee chair) will lead them to low scores - over the hills, out of the bunkers and straight into the holes!

So, I don't think I need to tell you that the whole point of the Mad Mulligans getting together is to go golfing - don't worry, joining the group doesn't mean you have another monthly meeting to attend. Instead, the Mad Mulligans have an OPTIONAL outing every second Saturday of each month playing the best courses in the area (usually with tee times between 11am and 1pm), and by utilizing our Tampa Bay Society affiliation, receive discounted greens and cart fees.  Most recently, on April 13, the Mulligans played Southern Hills Plantation up in Brooksville.  For the month of May, mark your calendars for Saturday, May 11th as the Mulligans take on Eastlake Woodlands in Oldsmar beginning at 1:00 pm.  Guys and gals of ALL skill levels are welcome.

To get in the game, please contact Thanecha Butz Anderson, Member Relations Coordinator at the Club, 813.286.4040 or so she can add you to the Mad Mulligans email list.  Details about each outing will be circulated to those who have expressed interest in golf.

Best of Balls to you All!  Hit'em Long and Straight!

Wow - what an event!   The Centre Club hosted the 6th Annual Dueling Chefs Competition last friday night with Chef Gary Moran of Wimauma facing off again Chef Lance Kraebel of Jackson's Bistro all to support the Children's Cancer Center.  Both chefs prepared a three-course dinner featuring the secret ingredient - the Poblano Pepper - which falls on the pepper scale somewhere in between a bell pepper and a jalepeno.  Prepared by the chefs we saw Poblanos roasted and stuffed, paired with all kinds of ingredients from pork to seabass and in forms such as spoonbread and cheesecake.  However, what I think may have taken the "cake" so-to-speak, was the Dulce de Leche, Sea Salt and Roasted Poblano Pie created by Chef Moran, who SWEPT the competition by winning both the Judge's votes and the People's Choice!

In addition to great food, the event featured our wandering Magician, Crash My Event Photo Booth, there was a live auction that included original paintings created by the Cancer Center's kids, as well as wine glass sales, which were also hand-painted by the kids at the Children's Cancer Center and sold at the event to raise additional dollars for the organization.  While the numbers are still being finalized, the event certainly raised more than $13,000 for the Children's Cancer Center.   Be sure to check out pictures from the event at!

We must extend thanks to both restaurants for participating, to Charley Belcher of Fox 13 for serving as Emcee for the event, to our Judges - Nick Peterson, winner of ABC's Bachelor Pad, Bridgette Mill, President and Publisher of the Tampa Bay Business Journal, and John Gilem, General Manager of Toyota of Tampa Bay.  We had a number of very supportive sponsors, especially the Tampa Tribune and Morgan Auto Group, and we must all take our hats off to the event's chair, Patrick Moraites of Firm Consulting Group.  Patrick serves on both the Board of Directors for the Children's Cancer Center and the Board of Governors for the Centre Club, this is his 6th AWESOME Dueling Chefs event.   Thank you Patrick and well done by all!

With July slowly coming to a close, and August right around the corner, the Centre Club has taken initiative to be "In with the New." The introduction of the Lunch Bunch table last week quickly became a favorite among Members, allowing single diners the opportunity to connect and build new relationships. If you also plan on dining at the Club during lunch time, we have begun a "Pick Your Price" daily feature. This dining option has been met with overwhelmingly positive reviews, and renewed energy for members to order Chef V's daily feature. If you didn't think we could possibly add another new addition to lunch, you'd be wrong! The Club is rolling out a new and improved lunch menu starting next Wednesday, July 25th. Although we have not changed the entire menu, leaving of course, the member favorites, there are a number of great new dishes including; a Chopped Shrimp Cobb Salad, Buccaneer Burger, Floribbean Grouper Taco, and Misoyaki Salmon.

Wondering what else is new? A number of exciting Member Events starting this Tuesday. We will begin a Texas Hold'em Poker Night hosted by Rick's Poker every fourth Tuesday of the month. If you're thinking of playing a hand with your fellow Members, reserve your seat early at one of the four tables of 8 and make sure to bring your poker face. The Supper Club Dinner & Show is another new event brought to you by the Centre Club and the Spanish Lyric Theater. The sound of music will fill the Skyline Dining Room for one special evening as we set the stage for some amazingly talented performers to provide enjoyable ambiance as you wine and dine your Friday away.

To kick off the month of August we cordially invite all Members, and their guests, to celebrate our Membership Director, Michelle Dyer's new arrival! Our Pretty in Pink Membership Social is a one time opportunity for your friends & colleagues to join the Club at no cost.* Michelle asks you to bring only yourself, a guest, and to wear your pink best. For all our brew drinkers out there, The Rising Leaders Committee has teamed up with Tampa Bay Brew Bus to put together a one-of-a-kind Pub Crawl. On the first Friday in August we will depart on the Brew Bus at 6pm to begin Crawling to Cigar City Brewery, Bar Louie, Ceviche then back to the Centre Club.

As always, we ask you to please contact our Member Concierge at 813.268.4040 to RSVP to any of the Member Events listed above.
