Why Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend

Why are diamonds a girl’s best friend?  Is it because they are rare and valuable?  Is it the way they delicately reflect light?  Is it because they are the hardest of all natural materials?  It is undeniable that diamonds have a pervasive influence in our popular culture.  Come learn all about diamonds from how they are mined and marketed to how they have become such a large part of our culture.  You will learn more about things you've heard of like the Kimberly Process and DeBeers.  You will learn how to read diamond grading reports and know what to look for when purchasing diamond jewelry.  In fact, you will walk away from this breakfast knowing why diamonds are indeed a girl's best friend!
Our speaker for this event will be Kristy Whisnant Kretzschmar. Kristy holds two certifications from the Diamond Council of America (DCA): the Diamond Certificate and the Colored Gemstone Certificate.  She also holds two designations from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) including the Accredited Jewelry Professional designation and the Diamond Grading designation. Kristy organized the North Carolina GIA Alumni Association two years ago and is currently serving as that group's President.
