Ryan is a native Floridian born in Orlando. After playing high school golf in Apopka Ryan attended Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi. Ryan left Mississippi in 2002 to turn professional and  play on the North Florida Winter Tour. In 2004 Ryan joined the Golden Bear Tour and has played in many state opens and other professional events.
Ryan started his career in the golf business as a assistant professional at The Golden Bear Club at Keene's Pointe in central Florida. He was also an assistant at Lake Ashton and Stoneybrook West before becoming the Head Professional at Countryside Country Club. Most recently in 2011 Ryan help the Countryside Interclub team win the west region in the FSGA Interclub Matches, and he made the cut in both the Florida and New Hampshire Opens.
