David Ford

David began his golf and club management career as a Golf Professional in 1996 after serving in the U.S. military for 8 years. In 1998, he was named General Manager at Black Bear Golf Club and Wekiva Golf Club in Central Florida. After spending 10 years in Florida, David moved to South Carolina as the General Manager at WildeWood and Woodcreek Farms Country Club until 2008. At that time he became a General Manager for ClubCorp at Woodside Plantation Country Club and Eagles Landing Country Club in Atlanta, Georgia until 2013. Since 2013, David has been a General Manager with Billy Casper Golf at Sun n’ Lake Golf Club, where he was awarded F&B Operation, Retail Golf Shop, Sales Person & Facility of the Year for the Southeast Region in 2014. In 2015, he became the General Manager at Eastpointe Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, where David assisted the membership and staff through a merger process with another private club inside the gates of the Eastpointe Community.

David has been in the club industry for over 18 years and a Class A PGA Professional since 2006. David prides himself on making it a daily priority to provide the Members and staff a fun and friendly club atmosphere in which to work, play and build upon the many existing and wonderful traditions a country club enjoys. 

David and his wife, Malinda have two children, Joshua (22) and Rachel (19).

James Emery

James is a 2004 graduate of Campbell University’s prestigious Professional Golf Management Program. Upon his graduation, he worked as the First Assistant Golf Professional at Highlands Country Club in Highlands, NC. While at Highlands CC, James learned the importance of customer service and the creation of lasting impressions for their membership.  For the past 11 years, James has lived in Williamsburg, VA and has served Kingsmill Resort & Spa. While at Kingsmill, he had the great opportunity to be involved in many aspects of the award winning facility. Originally hired as an Assistant Professional, James quickly was promoted to Associate Professional of the River/Plantation Courses and eventually to his most recent position as the Membership Manager. In 2012 and 2013, James acted as Operations Manager for the LPGA Kingsmill Championship while maintaining his Membership Manager responsibilities.

James has been in the golf business his entire working career. He earned his PGA Class A certification in 2008 and is excited to utilize his experience and accomplishments in his role as Director of Membership with Fords Colony Country Club.

James and his wife, Rebecca have two children, Jackson (9) and Drew (4). 

Mike Krick

He grew up in Williamsport, PA. (Home of the Little League World Series). His father was the Head Golf Professional at Williamsport Country Club. In his family, his father, Uncle Phil, Cousin, Phil Jr., and brother-in-law Mark are all PGA golf professionals. He earned a B.S. degree with a concentration in Golf Management from Methodist College in 1991. His first position was at Ford’s Colony in Williamsburg VA. At that time Ford’s Colony was a 36-hole facility and has now grown to 54 holes. In 1994, he took a position as Assistant Golf Professional at Wee Burn Country Club in Darien, CT. He would spend his summers at Wee Burn and worked winters in FL. He spent one winter at Grand Cypress and the other three at The Windsor Club, in Vero Beach. He also taught at the Pace-Sheftic Golf Schools. In 1995, Mike earned his Class A Certification from the PGA of America. In the Fall of 1998, He was named the Head Golf Professional at Carolina Trace Country Club which he worked in that capacity for more than 17 years. February of 2016 Mike returned to Ford’s Colony Country Club as the Director of Golf. He and his wife Stacy live in Williamsburg, Va.

Shay Rybin

I have over seven years experience in the wedding industry- five of which I ran a successful wedding planning company. I am most passionate about my husband, whom I have been married to for almost 8 years, our two sons and selling. I am very much looking forward to an extremely busy and fun season of weddings and events! But mostly, I am so excited to be amongst the incredible team at Ford’s Colony!

Richard Rice

Richard was born and raised in Yorktown, VA.  In 2009, He got his bachelors degree in Sport and Recreation Management with a minor in Business from James Madison University.  He is a PGA apprentice, set to be a Class-A professional in early 2016. In his free time, Richard enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family.

Eric Simmons

Eric brings a variety of professional experiences to the Ford’s Colony Golf Academy including roles as a swing coach, club fitter, club repair specialist and top junior instructor. He has held similar positions at Holly Hills Country Club, Whiskey Creek Golf Club in Maryland, and Independence Golf Club in Virgina.

Eric has a passion to help each player achieve their playing goals while working within the frame work of golf laws and principles. His main focus is to help players build on their current abilities using unique practice routines, videos analysis, and a greater understanding of how motor skills are learned.

Tim Westby-Gibson

Chef Tim brings over 20 years of experience from the food and beverage industry to the kitchens of Ford’s Colony Country Club.  Tim was introduced to fine cooking at an early age. He started his career at The Trellis Restaurant in Williamsburg while in high school.  After sous chef positions in Key West, Florida and Williamsburg, Tim accepted the role as Executive Chef at A.Carroll’s Bistro.  He continued to pursue his passion with Executive Chef positions at The Center Street Grill and then The Café Provencal, before opening his own restaurant, Prime46forty.  Chef Tim enjoys featuring local and seasonal ingredients, preparing them carefully to showcase the bounty that Virginia has to offer.

While not at the Club, Tim enjoys spending time with his wife Tricia, and their children Clair and Ryan. 

John Marshall

John graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelors in Turf Management and minor in Landscape Design in 1985.  He moved to Virginia Beach after graduation to work at Hell's Point Golf Club.  The owner of Hell's Point decided to build another course in 1987, Owls Creek also in Virginia Beach where John oversaw the construction, grow-in, and maintenance until 1994.  John eventually moved to Williamsburg in 1994 to work for Legends Golf.  He was involved in the construction and grow-in of Stonehouse Golf Club and Royal New Kent Golf Club.

John was hired by Carolina Golf Group to oversee the construction and grow-in of Kiskiack Golf Club in Williamsburg in 1997 and worked there as Superintendent until 2007.  He then was hired by Boddie-Noell to oversee the construction, grow-in and maintenance of The Club at Viniterra in New Kent County.  

Peggy Willis

Peggy is responsible for the Clubs’ Member billing and accounting. She began working for the developer of Ford’s Colony in 1984 when the Club was just a vision. Peggy has   enjoyed watching the club prosper and grow into the dynamic organization it has become today. She is dedicated to the club’s membership and strives to make each member and guest her number one priority.

Peggy lives in Ford’s Colony with her husband Mike of 40 years and Tucker a German Short-Haired Pointer.  She has two wonderful daughters and was blessed with an adorable grandson in 2016. In her off hours she enjoys cooking, gardening, Virginia Tech football and relaxing with family and friends.
