It’s a science filled Summer at Hackberry Creek!
Kids ages 4-9 are invited to join us for 3 weeks for experiments and fun! gi

Weekly Registration: $27 per child, per week
3-Week Registration: $65 per child for all 3 sessions...that’s a savings of $18!

June 12th from 3-4:30: Straw Rockets from Aerospace Engineering
In our straw rocket activity students will have the ability to design their own pneumatically driven rocket and the fins that stabilize the flight of the rocket. The rockets will be designed from straws and other household items and will be test on our rocket launcher. Students will get a chance to go against one another to see whose rocket travels the farthest. Objectives in this lesson include how to launch at angles and how mass and fin design all have an effect on total flight distance. Students will also learn the basics of aerospace engineering and information about rockets.

June 19th from 3-4:30: Levitrons from Electrical Engineering
The levitron lesson will focus on magnets and how they can be used to raise a vehicle above the ground. By raising a vehicle above the ground, students will discover the advantages that a levitating vehicle can have. The levitrons will be made from either a template or students can design their own. All levitrons will be tested on a maglev track to see which child had the fastest design. Students will also learn the basics of electrical engineering and what magnets are and do.

June 26th from 3-4:30: Marshmallow Bridges from Civil Engineering
Our Marshmallow bridges activity will challenge the students to think like real civil engineers. This activity will allow children to use their imagination to build a bridge with ease. Students will be able to test their designs without having to glue all the tooth picks together. The children will learn the basics of civil engineering, information about bridges, and the secret to a strong and sturdy bridge. All bridges will be put to the test by our teachers to see who has the strongest bridge.
