Hackberry Creek Junior Tennis Academy

The emphasis for the Quick Start 10 & under levels is motor skill development, entry-level tennis skills, and FUN. The emphasis for the 10+ age groups is continued stroke development and matchplay skills.

New for 2013, CREEK CASH! Juniors are eligible for Creek Cash, every time they attend a clinic. Creek Cash is awarded for attendance, skills contests, matchplay, sportsmanship, and outstanding behavior. It can be redeemed for prizes periodically throughout the year, or saved until a child has enough for a bigger prize. Prizes will include toys, candy, sports equipment, video games, etc. Creek Cash will be awarded not only in tennis, but also in junior golf programs, at the pool. Kid’s Club, and in the dining areas.

Juniors may attend on a daily or monthly basis. The monthly option allows UNLIMITED attendance each month, at a tremendous savings.

1: Ages 3 & 4. The focus is on pre-tennis skills, movement, and motor skills, employing the Quick Start tennis method.

2: Ages 5 & 6. Are beginners or with limited playing experience. This program is based on 36’ Quick Start tennis method.

3: Ages 7-10. Are beginners/advanced beginners playing "short court" tennis. This program is based on 36’ and 60’ Quick Start tennis methods.

4: Ages 10-12 years old. Children have lesson and playing experience, and are starting to play full court tennis.

5: Ages 12-14. These are children who desire to, or play for, middle school teams, and are starting to play tournaments.

The tennis professionals will be responsible for the placement of children in the program. If there’s only 1 or 2 attendees the 1½-hr. clinics are 1 hr.; and the 1-hr. clinics are 30 minutes.

The goals of the "High Performance Program" (HPP) are to develop a higher level of commitment and have our players playing more tournaments, playing on school teams, and having more fun. Ultimately, we want our players to play tennis for the rest of their lives.

Who Directs the Program?
Brian Tennery, Hackberry Creek Director of Tennis, also directs the HPP. Brian is a "Professional" member of the Professional Tennis Registry, a National Clinician & Tester for the PTR, and was the PTR 2011 Texas State Member of the Year.

How Does a Player qualify for the Program?
Being "old enough" is not always a determining factor, and ultimately it’s the decision of the professional staff as to whether or not a player is appropriate for the HPP. The follow are examples of criteria that players will meet:

Plays on his or her middle school or high school team.
Plays local tournaments.
Capable of winning points with consistency AND power.
Tennis has become a focus and a passion for the player.
