Brian Tennery was born and raised in Maryland.  He’s a graduate of The American University, in Washington, D.C., where he played #1 singles and doubles, was the team captain, and the MVP at this division I school.After college he traveled internationally and throughout the United States, as a member of Dennis Van der Meer’s staff, teaching tennis camps for adults and juniors, and the “Tennis University”, a course for aspiring tennis professionals.  Van der Meer is widely regarded as one of the foremost tennis teachers in the world.He was the Director of Tennis at Lakewood C.C., a member owned country club, north of Washington, D.C., for 26 years.Brian is a member of the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) with a “Professional” rating; and is a National Clinician & Tester.  He was 2011 PTR Member of the Year, for the state of Texas; and was the Chairperson of the International Testers Committee.Brian is married to Elayne, and they have 5 children, and 2 grandchildren. He’s been the Hackberry Creek C.C. Director of Athletics since 2011.

Branden is a certified PGA professional who grew up in Northern Wisconsin. He received a Golf and Basketball scholarship to play for Mountain State University. After college, Branden moved to Miami, Florida where he worked his way up to Lead Instructor & Head Golf Professional at Doral Golf Resort home of the Blue Monster.  During this time as the Lead Instructor he worked with some of the best instructors from the Jim McLean Golf school overseeing several programs. Being in the golf industry for over 10 years, Branden has previously served at a number of facilities, ranging from high-end private Clubs to resorts. His teaching history includes being the Head instructor for the city’s troubled youth after school program in Florida with over 50 students and South Florida Special Olympic Program where he implemented new programming for their section. During his time he had the opportunity to instruct the youngest female ever to play in the US Open.

Branden’s approach to teaching students varies depending on the person; no player is the same. He believes the talent is in the player, and he wants to help educate students on why they do what they do. His goal has always been to provide unprecedented services to guests while creating quality programs that they will enjoy. Teaching the fundamentals and taking the time to listen to the student is very important to him. He is a firm believer in practice with a purpose and uses drills to keep the game exciting. Branden’s experience as an amateur player taught him the value of a strong mental game and the importance of strength and flexibility. Whether you’re just starting to play the game or you’re a bit more advanced, Branden wants to help you reach your goals. He values the tradition of the game, and he wants to share that with his students.

In his spare, time Branden enjoys golfing and watching sports. He is a huge Wisconsin Badgers fan.
