|Role:||Director of Tennis|
Brian Tennery was born and raised in Maryland. He’s a graduate of The American University, in Washington, D.C., where he played No. 1 singles and doubles, was the team captain, and the MVP at this division I school.
After college he traveled internationally and throughout the United States, as a member of Dennis Van der Meer’s staff, teaching tennis camps for adults and juniors, and the “Tennis University,” a course for aspiring tennis professionals. Van der Meer is widely regarded as one of the foremost tennis teachers in the world.
Brian is a member of the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) with a “Professional” rating and is a National Clinician & Tester. He was 2010 PTR Member of the Year for Texas, and is the chairperson of the International Testers Committee.
He was the Director of Tennis at Lakewood Country Club, a member-owned country club, north of Washington, D.C., for 26 years. During his tenure he created a 200-plus junior development program, coached eight interclub teams, and planned and supervised the construction of more than $4 million in capital improvements. Programming was essential at LCC, and Brian designed, promoted and ran a wide range of instructional, social and competitive programs for adults and children – something for everyone everyday. He also owned and operated one of the finest country club tennis pro shops in the Washington, D.C. area.
Brian now divides his time between being the Director of Tennis at Hackberry Creek Country Club and conducting certification workshops for the PTR, in which he teaches tennis players to become tennis teachers.
