Indian Wells Country Club is excited to welcome our new General Manager Gabe Codding to the club!

Gabe was most recently the tournament director of the ANA Inspiration, The LPGA tour's first major at Mission Hills Country Club. As tournament director, he has had overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the ANA Inspiration which has been at Mission Hills CC for 46+ years. He as worked closely with ClubCorp and their employee partners during his tenure. Gabe started his career at the ANA Inspiration (formally Nabisco Dinah Shore) in 1996 and was promoted to tournament operations manager in 2006 and to tournament director in 2008. 

In addition to his 23+ year tenure with the ANA Inspiration, Gabe has been involved locally with the Skins Game, Battle at Bighorn and the LPGA's Samsung World Championship. He has also worked with numerous LPGA events and professional players throughout his career. Gabe's wife Kim has also been a professional golf instructor at local country clubs such as Mission Hills, Stone Eagle and Thunderbird CC. Gabe and Kim, currently live with their three daughters in La Quinta, Calif. 

Kurt Dempster

Kurt Dempster is the Club's Membership Director.

Kurt is a graduate of Arizona State University where he was a pitcher for the Sun Devils and then played professionally for the Cincinnati Reds organization for four years.

After leaving baseball, Kurt worked in membership sales at Palm Valley Country Club. After Palm Valley, Kurt worked at Rancho La Quinta Country Club where he implemented their Membership program. Rancho La Quinta Country Club moved Kurt to Andalusia Country Club, to help establish their membership program and overseeing the golf operations. 

Kurt's wife Anna also works at PGA West as the Membership Director and their son Kole is attending Kurts Alma matter Arizona State University.

Hayley Tice

Originally from the Poconos in Pennsylvania, Hayley moved to Southern California in 2003, to study at Chapman University in Orange, earning a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Advertising. 

Upon graduating, Hayley worked as an event planner for the second largest public prop company in Southern California. Hayley was responsible for event fundraising, catering, association and awards programs management.

Outside of work, Hayley enjoys family gatherings, adventures with her sons and traveling.

Hayley is excited to work at Indian Wells Country Club and utilize her vast array of event knowledge to create memorable experiences for the members, bride and grooms and corporate clientele.

Mike Layman

Role: Food & Beverage Director

Mike began his career with independent operators of restaurants, hotels and catering working in the kitchen and learning his trade.

He went to work for Bon Appétit Management Co. which specialized in corporate and educational foodservice. With Bon Appétit, Mike worked at many accounts in the Silicon Valley and was promoted to the level of Executive Chef before moving from the kitchen to multi unit management of the front of the house.

After seven years with Bon Appétit, Mike was recruited to Starbucks Coffee were he served as District Manager.

After spending seven years with Starbucks, Mike moved to Monterey Country Club as the Food and Beverage Director.

Mike spent eight years at the club before coming to Indian Wells Country Club.

Michael Todd

Michael has been with Indian Wells CC since 1998.  He started out as the assistant Superintendent and on October 2008 was promoted to Superintendent.  Now he currently is the new Director of Golf Course Maintenance.  Michael moved to southern California in 1997 from Jacksonville Illinois. He received his associates degree in turf-grass from the College of the Desert in 1997.  He is married to Hilda who is the manager of Vickie's of Santa Fe.  Michael has three children Alexia, Jaden, and Landen who keep him busy when he is not at work.

Mark Ewing

A native of the Coachella Valley, Mark Ewing joins Indian Wells Country Club with 17 years experience in hospitality and customer service. Formerly Director of Golf at PGA WEST, Mark managed golf operations and served a large clientele of members and guests. Over the years in the golf business, Mark has developed a passion to serve and create long-lasting impressions for members, guests, and fellow employees. When Mark is away from the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their two children soaking up the gorgeous weather we have here in the Coachella Valley.
