Golf Outings at Indian Wells Country Club
The concept of “Indian Wells Country Club” was first discussed by Paul and Isabelle Prom and Eddie and Jean Susalla during dinner at Ruby’s Dunes restaurant in Palm Springs in the fall of 1955. Within a week, 50 acres were purchased and plans began to transform the land into a nine-hole golf course. Opening Day of Indian Wells Country Club was held on December 22, 1956. Among the original owners and members of the Club was television star Desi Arnez, movie star Frank Sinatra and golf legend Bob Hope.
Indian Wells Country Club has played host to many recognizable golf tournaments including the Bob Hope Classic Tournament, the Frank Sinatra Celebrity Invitational, Oklahoma University Sooners in the Desert, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and City of Hope, to name a few.
Indian Wells Country Club is proud to offer 36 championship holes of golf on two beautiful courses, the Classic Course and the Cove Course.
The Classic Course
The Classic Course is the original course that founders Desi Arnaz, Paul Prom, Eddie Susalla, Linn Johnson, Earl Murphy, Milt Hicks, Bill Worthing and John Curci set out to build in 1956. In fact, founder Eddie Susalla actually designed the 6,478-yard, par 72, 18-hole course that boasts a 127-slope rating.
The Cove Course
The Cove Course stretches 6,558 yards with a slope of 121 the par 72, and was designed by Indian Wells Country Club founder, Eddie Sussalla and Ted Robinson, Sr. The 18-hole Cove Course was built several years after the Classic Course, yet provides golfers with challenging shots and unique holes.
