The author will read from her book and speak about the hobo culture, the Bonus March in Washington, D.C., and other aspects of life during the Depression.
Barbara writes both fiction and nonfiction and is a freelance editor of college textbooks in the humanities, computer books, and works of fiction. She is also a photographer who occasionally exhibits in the Cleveland area.
She recently traveled to Britt, Iowa, to attend the 111th National Hobo Convention, where she met present-day and former hobos. She lives in northeast Ohio.
"Line by Line" This historical novel is set in the Great Depression. Follow the story of Maddi Skobel, who flees her central Ohio town by freight train, determined to carve out a life on her own terms. Learning to survive as a hobo while facing hardship, danger and violence, Maddy must discover her own resourcefulness and strengths.
