Teaching Professional

Frank Garland has played golf for more than 45 years. As a 1975 graduate of the USAF Academy, he served more than 25 years on active and reserve duty in the USAF. His golf career began in 1999 when he entered the PGA Apprentice Program. This program is designed to prepare golf professionals for all aspects of the golf business.

Frank quickly realized he only wanted to teach golf and he devoured all the material from the golf professional training program to prepare for a teaching career. He began teaching in 1999 at Indian Creek GC in Loomis, California. Soon afterwards, he was hired by the athletic director at Sierra College to teach up to four weekday golf classes. He designed the golf curriculum, and in the last ten years, taught hundreds of students of all ability levels at Sierra College. Frank has been a staff teaching professional at Teal Bend since 2002.

Teaching philosophy and approach

Frank strongly believes in simplicity in the golf swing and golf instruction. He also believes that solid fundamentals are the foundation of long-term success in golf. Even the seasoned player can benefit from reviewing fundamentals. He specializes in players with little or no golf experience. He believes learning how to play golf should be as much fun as actually playing!

• 30-minute lesson (HD video): $40
• 60-minute lesson, two players (shared HD video): $30 ea.
