World Heart Day was created in 2000 to inform people around the globe that heart disease and stroke are the world’s leading cause of death, claiming 17.3 million lives each year and the numbers are rising. By 2030, it is expected that 23 million people will die from cardiovascular diseases annually. That is more than the population of Australia!
Unless action is taken to enable heart-healthy activity and promote healthy eating habits, we are at an increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
To help raise awareness for heart health, join your fellow Club Members for a lunchtime walk from 12:30-1:00pm. Meet by the front desk reception area at the Athletic Center.
Following the group walk there will be free blood pressure screenings as well as a complimentary LUNCH, which includes a wrap and fruit, available on the Athletic Center floor. Stop at the front desk for your free screen!
