We are celebrating "Commerce Club style" this year by exploring the theme, "What a difference a generation makes!"
You need to be here at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2013. We will eat, drink, and visit for awhile. Then, we will get down to business. The business of understanding why the history of African American women and white women is so different.
Two ladies will lead us on our journey. Anna Smith (a senior citizen, former teacher and wife of the late Judge Willy T. Smith, Jr.) was born before African Americans had equal protection under the law. Nika White (a wife, mother, and Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion for the Greenville Chamber) was born after African Americans won legal equality. You will be culturally enriched, intellectually challenged, and emotionally touched. Come and experience it.
Important detail -- it is Black History Month. So, we want to honor African American women. So women, show out -- bring friends with you. You will all leave different women.
