Hidden deep in the hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, obscured by cliffs and ravines, lies a picturesque, rugged region of Appalachia. Said to be "just a little further up the road", the Dark Corner has always been an illusive and mysterious place. Settled by Scots-Irish pioneers in the mid 1700’s, the area was infamous for outlaws, gun slinging, knife fights and bloodshed, all due to the misuse of illicit whiskey. Moonshine was the beverage of choice for these strong-willed mountain people who believed it was their God-given, inalienable right to live off the land and drink it too. Whether for survival or for pleasure, one thing’s for sure, the art of turning grain into distilled spirits was and will always be a way of life.

Today, the tradition of our ancestors lives on at the Dark Corner Distillery, home of the World’s Best Moonshine. Located on a bustling main Street in downtown Greenville, South Carolina, our distillery gives new meaning to the word micro. Watch as extremely small batches of whiskey, gin and absinthe are meticulously crafted right before your eyes in an 80-gallon handmade copper pot still. From time-tested methods that predate prohibition to the use of the best tasting water in America, our focus is on producing the highest quality and most flavorful spirits possible.


Lewis Redmond Carolina Bourbon Whiskey


Lewis Redmond, the first-ever bourbon whiskey produced in South Carolina is distilled in small batches and aged to mellow perfection. This ‘hand mash’ is one-of-a-kind and meant to be savored neat without ice, water or mixers.

Redmond is distilled from a mash made of corn, red wheat and barley, and aged in new American, charred oak barrels. We've added just the right amount of fresh spring water to bring the proof down to a smooth and warming 86 proof. Enjoy it till the last drop.
