Rules and Regulations
Couples' Tournament Format
Senior Division – Men’s age 62 plus – Men will play from the senior tees
Open Divison – Men’s age 61 or less – Men will play from the white tees
All ladies will play from the ladies tees.
Senior Division qualification: The male player must be 62 years or older at time of tournament for the team to play in this division.
Each field within each division will be flighted by combined handicap indexes. Formats and course rotation are as follows:
Practice Round on Course No. 5
Tournaments rounds on
Course No. 2 – Best Ball
Course No. 8 – Scramble
Course No. 5 – Modified alternate shot
The handicapping for each format will be as follows in both divisions:
BEST BALL – Each player will receive individual strokes based on his or her handicap index - USGA handicapping 90%.
MODIFIED CHAPMAN – Both team players tee off on every hole; each player plays his/her partner’s ball for the second shot. After the second shot, teams select one ball and play that ball alternately until holed out. The same player shall never stroke a ball consecutively. (Ball in play must be holed out.) Handicaps will be combined and divided by two.
SCRAMBLE – Each couple will receive 25% of their combined total handicap indexes after they have been converted to the appropriate course handicap.
The tournament will be governed by USGA rules except that: the 14-club rule and one-ball rule are waived. All golf equipment must comply with USGA specifications. Distance finders will be allowed, however slope indicators must be disabled. The tournament director along with the club professional has final say in all situations. Caddies are not allowed.
Practice rounds tee times may be made beginning February 3rd by calling Tina Shepard at 910.235.8248, identify yourself as a ClubCorp couples participant.
Pairings for Monday and Tuesday will be sent prior to the tournament. Saturday pairings will be by gross scores within each division.
Skins Game will be daily and paid on gross scores within each flight within each division. Sign up will be Sunday during registration and during dinner Sunday night.
