In 1963 Friendswood Development Company designed a master planned community, now known as Clear Lake City. Those visionaries designated 150 acres of prime land nestled among the oaks and woodlands that followed North Fork Bayou as the future site for a private county club and championship golf course. In the mid-1980's ground was broken and that vision slowly took form to become Bay Oaks County Club. The inaugural round of golf at Bay Oaks Country Club was played on November 18, 1988. It would take another year to complete the construction on the beautiful 35,000 square foot clubhouse and tennis / pool facility.

As early as the 1960's the vision for this club was to offer more than just a premiere facility to its Members. The initial focus was to create a place where people who share a common purpose could gather and build lasting memories, strong relationships and family traditions. In essence, Bay Oaks Country Club would be an extension to each Member's home and a compliment to their business.
Without question, Member Involvement has been one of the strongest factors in the success of this Club. Bay Oaks Country Club was honored with ClubCorp's highest award when chosen as the 1998
National Country Club of the Year. This recognition provides testament to the partnership that exists between the Members and the Staff. We are proud of our past. With our Members we celebrate our present and look forward to the future.
