This natural, classic Nicklaus-designed golf course blends harmoniously with its surroundings. The seasoned golfer as well as the enthusiastic novice will thoroughly enjoy playing this challenging, fair, and aesthetically pleasing golf course.
In Jack's words, "We have not forced or tried to create features that aren't natural to the site. Therefore, our landforms are very broad, bunkers are deep, but relatively simple in shape and the entire site flows very naturally. We have taken into consideration the Kansas winds by careful placement of the tees, width of fairways, and the openings into the greens. Every golfer will have fun and that's what it is all about."
The Clubhouse
The Clubhouse at the Nicklaus Golf Club is truly one of the most spectacular new golf and social activity centers in the Overland Park area. The building's unique design of stone columns, pilasters and expansive windows presents the traditional quality of a large estate home. Accented by chimneys, dormers and a beautiful clock tower, the Clubhouse seems to say "golf," while appealing to an array of social activities.
Inside the Clubhouse main entrance, Members and Guests are welcomed to the Club by the Receptionist who will take your coat and provide assistance. Even from the front door, the views to the golf activities are immediately obvious through a wonderful Rotunda Lounge, which serves as the circulation hub of the entire Clubhouse. The Golf Pro Shop and the large Dining Room are directly accessible from the Rotunda, as are the spacious Ladies' and Gentlemen's Locker Rooms.
Walking along the Gallery which borders one side of the Dining Room, one will gaze into the Champions Room, a private dining and meeting room for pre-golf that will host business meetings and evening social gatherings. The end of the Gallery, opens into a wonderful Grill and Lounge, served by a traditional bar. A double-sided fireplace divides the Grill and Lounge from the more formal Dining area that seats 100. The Rotunda Lounge, Dining Room, Grill and Pro Shop all enjoy an almost unlimited view of the golf activities and natural beauty of the area.
Each Locker Room includes a gracious Entry Lounge, quality Rest Rooms and Showers, large wooden lockers and individual, attended Card Room/Lounges where scores can be settled and table games can continue, undisturbed.
A large outdoor Terrace spans the entire rear of the Clubhouse, much of it covered under an awning with dining tables similar to those found on many of the most famous old Clubhouses. The golf carts are conveniently stored in the basement, hidden beneath the main Clubhouse.
