In the 1970's, Henry Ford II along with other local visionaries championed the revival of downtown Detroit with the construction of the Renaissance Center. In the months preceding the opening of the Club, Mr. Ford gathered influential leaders from the business community and formed the founding Board of Governors. In July 1978, the Club opened its doors, and has been a powerful presence in the Detroit social and business community for more nearly 30 years.
