STOCKBRIDGE, GA – The National Golf Association Professional Golf Tour (NGA TOUR) announced today that Eagle’s Landing Country Club, a Member of the ClubCorp family of clubs, will serve as host to the No. 3 Men’s Professional Golf Tour in the United States on Aug. 19-25, 2013.
Eagle’s Landing Country Club, a Tom Fazio-designed championship layout in Stockbridge, Ga., is the previous home of the LPGA’s Chick-fil-a Charity Championship hosted by Nancy Lopez and will provide an excellent backdrop for the next generation of PGA TOUR stars.
Eagle’s Landing Country Club is one of the finest private country clubs in the South. Developed in the late 1980s as a gathering place for like-minded people from around the region, Eagle’s Landing history is steeped in the traditions and challenges of golf. And, in this, its 25th Anniversary year, Eagle’s Landing is undergoing a $1.2 million clubhouse reinvention thereby marking its future as the south Atlanta private club of choice.
Teeming with forests, streams and wildlife, Eagle’s Landing Country Club is immersed in natural beauty and its 27-hole, Tom Fazio-designed layout is one of the finest in golf. There may be many Atlanta golf courses, but Eagle’s Landing surpasses them all.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have Eagle’s Landing Country Club join our family of host courses,” said Robin L. Waters, NGA TOUR president. “It is great to add a course of such high quality and prestige to a schedule that has already hosted more PGA, Web.com, LPGA, Champions Tour, and USGA & college Championships than any other in developmental golf. Eagle’s Landing, with its rich history in hosting professional golf, only adds to that resume and, given its spot on this year’s schedule, Eagle’s Landing will likely have a big hand in determining who our Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year award winners will be, making for an exciting week.”
The $150,000 event will be the second of three events that conclude the 2013 season in August. The inaugural tournament at Eagle’s Landing Country Club will follow a stop at the Country Club of South Carolina in Florence, S.C., on Aug. 5-11, 2013 and precede the season-ending event at The Members Club at Woodcreek in Elgin, S.C., on Aug. 26 – Sept. 1, 2013.
Like all NGA TOUR Pro Series events, the tournament at Eagle’s Landing will feature a week full of festivities, starting with a local qualifier, a free junior clinic and sponsor’s pro-ams before concluding with a four-day, 72-hole professional tournament .
The 2013 NGA TOUR schedule features 34 events total including 18 GUARANTEED PURSE Pro Series 72-hole events. The NGA Pro Golf Tour remains the only other men’s tour in the country besides the PGA TOUR and Web.com Tour to guarantee their entire Pro Series purses, regardless of field size.
The NGA Pro Golf Tour is the No. 3 Men’s Professional Golf Tour in the United States after the PGA TOUR and Web.com Tour and is the No. 1 recommended developmental tour by more PGA TOUR and Web.com Tour Professionals.
The NGA has helped hundreds of professionals acquire their PGA TOUR, Euro, Web.com, and Champions Tour cards. In fact, NGA alumni have won an incredible Fifteen (15) “Major” Championships. On average over 60% of every Web.com Tour field and over 40% of every PGA TOUR field have spent time on the NGA TOUR.
NGA alumni include: 2012 Masters champion Bubba Watson; 2011 PGA Championship winner Keegan Bradley; 2010 PGA TOUR Player of the Year and 2003 U.S. Open champion Jim Furyk; 2009 British Open champion Stewart Cink; 2009 U.S. Open champion Lucas Glover; 2007 Masters champion Zach Johnson; 2003 PGA Champion Shaun Micheel; 2003 British Open champion Ben Curtis; two-time U.S. Open champion Lee Janzen; British Open and PGA champion John Daly; British Open champion Tom Lehman; PGA champion David Toms; 2003 Tour Championship winner Chad Campbell; 2010 NGA Player of the Year and 2013 Honda Classic champion Michael Thompson; and recent PGA TOUR winners Russell Henley, Kevin Streelman, Scott Brown, Brian Gay, Mark Wilson, George McNeill, Ted Potter Jr., Scott Stallings, Scott Piercy, Gary Woodland, and many, many more.
The NGA Pro Golf Tour, established in 1988, predates the Web.com Tour as the longest running developmental tour in golf. Since 2010, the NGA TOUR has received twenty Web.com Tour and two PGA TOUR event exemptions, the most in developmental golf, and in 2012 became the “Official Partner of the Reno-Tahoe Open,” one of just 45 PGA TOUR events worldwide, and now the only event on the PGA TOUR calendar with a Modified Stableford scoring format..
