Earlier this past month ClubCorp entered the world of Facebook. Not with trumpets blowing and guns blaring, but the way a new social media platform should be entered: quietly.

Yes, we have a vision for our participation in social media and we have very specific objectives and goals for the platform (which we will discuss very soon on this blog). And, we expect to be making big inroads into those goals very soon.

But entering a social media platform is much like entering the room at a party. Very few of us could pull off an entrance like the main character in the Heineken commercial -- shooting cowboys, fighting ninjas and singing on stage with the Astroids Galaxy Club. No, for most of us the best approach would be to enter quietly, survey the room and start introducing ourselves. And listen.

So for now, our plan on the corporate Facebook page is to use the next couple of weeks to build out a few more features, find our voice, prime the content stream and listen to the conversations going on around us.

Then maybe we'll fight a few ninjas.
