I am thrilled to be part of this amazing Bay Oaks family! I started playing tennis when I was 12 years old, and was lucky enough to be coached by Alfredo Claro and Yohny Romero, who played in the ATP Tour, and Davis Cup for Venezuela.
As a junior player, I held a ranking of # 8 nationally. Throughout my junior years I received numerous scholarship offers but decided to stay in my hometown of Caracas, Venezuela and became the Captain of the NCAA Universidad Metropolitana Tennis Team.
After earning my B.S. in Computer Engineering, I opened my own tennis academy, Asoclara. With only two courts, I successfully organized and coached 50+ kids and 20 adults. I moved to Houston in 2014, where I completed my Associates in Business while developing two Junior Zat Players into Super Champs. While in Houston, I became the Junior Co-Director at Westheimer Indoors and taught private lessons at Sienna Plantation in Sugarland, where I taught almost the entire Varsity team for Ridge Point High School and Middle School. I have turned many Challengers into Champs and Super Champs. Also in the HLTA, I have taken many adults from beginners to advanced to meet their own personal goals.
I am so grateful to be the Director of Tennis at Bay Oaks Country Club, I will give a 110% in this new journey. My door is always open so come by to say Hi, just talk about life or anything we can do to improve our program.

Email Eric Romero
Chef Eric Romero has come from Downtown Club at The Met to join our team here at Bay Oaks Country Club. He discovered his passion for the culinary arts when he began his career at the age of 16 at the Pappas Restaurant chain. He then continued to move up the ranks at restaurants Pesce, Ristorante Cavour, Brennan’s, and the Houston Country Club.
He joined The Houston Club in 2013 for its new location; after three successful years and numerous awards, he was asked to oversee the reopening of the newly renovated Met Club in downtown. When he isn’t chained to stove, you can find him in the garage crafting tables and butcher blocks. Serving within every capacity of the hospitality industry has led him to appreciate and understand what it takes to serve and lead in the kitchen.
