Rick Crowder

Rick Crowder was born in Omaha, Nebraska and raised in a small town in Western Iowa.  As the youngest of 9 siblings, Rick was no stranger to competition and developed a strong passion for sports as he participated in football, baseball and basketball growing up.  At one point Rick had shown great promise to play baseball or football as a profession yet, due to unfortunate injuries, he was unable to further pursue this passion.

Rick would go on to spend 14 years in hotel management within the Hyatt and Hilton families and during his tenure gained experience in all facets of the industry.  He held executive roles at 7 properties throughout the country, applying innovative skills to secure employee satisfaction, customer retention and new business development.

Rick looked to capitalize on his skillset and in 2002 created his own startup business – K & G Hotel Services.  For 6 years, Rick developed K&G into a highly successful hotel consulting company using inventive and original methods to negotiate hotel rates for companies and organizations across the nation.  He sold his company in 2008.

In the down economy of 2008, Rick was sought out and brought on to American Golf Corporation (AGC) to manage Skylinks Golf Course and eventually El Dorado Park Golf Course (both in Long Beach, Ca).  These courses are home to the highly featured Long Beach Open as well as home to some of the largest mini tours in the nation.  Between both courses, Rick has led his clubs to their record revenue totals while improving member satisfaction.  He’s also maintained a dual role as the AGC Corporate Revenue Analyst, optimizing company-wide revenue partner agreements.

Rick is happily married to his wife of 20 years (Michele) and currently resides in Rossmoor, California.  They have two children (Kelsey and Garrett).  His family enjoys traveling to their favorite vacation destinations on the Hawaiian Islands.

Holly Jaenichen

Holly has been with at Coto de Caza since 2009 where she started out at the Sports Club and now as one of the Clubs’ Membership Directors.

Holly’s background is in hospitality, travel and private event production and sales.

When she is not at the Club, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cheering on her son at his sporting events, hiking with her dogs, skiing, volunteering and finding time to improve her golf game.

I have been working for Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club as the Private Events and Tournament Director since January, 2008. In the past, I worked for SeaCliff Country Club for three and a half years as Catering Director; Dove Canyon Country Club for three and half years as Catering Manager; and Coyote Hills Golf Course for six years as a Server, Banquet Captain and Assistant Food and Beverage Director.

The Members I serve and the Employee Partners I interact with are what make me love being a part of Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club.

My favorite parts of being a Private Events and Tournament Director are being able to arrange a baby shower, helping charities raise money in golf tournaments and planning the most important day of someone’s life – a wedding.

A native of Chicago, Illinois, Rick has been playing golf since the age of 15 and has been in the golf industry for over 35 years.

Rick began his career in golf at Oakmont Country Club in Glendale, California.  After spending four years at Oakmont, he moved to Rio Hondo Country Club located in Downey, California in 1982. In 1990, he became the director of golf at Porter Valley Country Club in Northridge, California.  In 1999, Rick became the director of golf at Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club.

Rick is married with two children.

David Page

Role: Director of Tennis

I have been the Director of Tennis at Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club since 2003. I have been in the Southern California tennis scene since 1992. I got my start in Texas, where I played college tennis at Odessa Junior College and University of Texas – San Antonio. In 1982, I received my Professional One – USPTA certification and started teaching full time.

My beautiful wife, Michelle, and I have two wonderful children, Sean and Sydney.

Corey Tabor

Role: Spa & Sports Club Director

I started my career with ClubCorp in January of 1993 as a Fitness Instructor at the Capital Club in Columbus, Ohio. Through the years, I have been the Athletic Director at: the Capital City Club in Columbus, Ohio; the Aspen Glen Club in Carbondale, Colorado; and most recently at Porter Valley Country Club in Northridge, California.

As a child, I spent two years in Rome, Italy and five years in Nairobi, Kenya. I have my Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from Ohio University and am certified through the American College of Sports Medicine. I compete in the sport of adventure racing and, when given the time, I enjoy beating that little white ball around the golf course.

Jonathan Gelman

Role: Executive Chef

Executive Chef Jonathan Gelman has served as Director of Culinary / Executive Chef for over 25 years and 15 years on an executive committee level.

Prior to joining Coto, Chef Gelman worked at the following hotels and resorts: The Driskill, Austin, Meadowood Napa Valley, The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel; Arizona Biltmore, L'Auberge de Sedona Resort & Spa and Hyatt Waikoloa on the Big Island of Hawaii. 

Chef Gelman has experience with major golf and tournament events such as, Phoenix Open, Franklin Templeton Tennis and LPGA Superstition Mountain Las Vegas Invitational. In addition to golf tournaments, Chef Gelman has experience in wedding and high-end event planning.

Chef Gelman graduated from the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco.

Ryan Brown

Role: Director of Operations

Raised in Orange County, currently resides in his hometown of Mission Viejo, Ryan's career in hospitality has spanned more than 17 years, ranging from Host to Bartender, Restaurant Manager, Service & Training Technician, Food & Beverage Director, Director of Operations and General Manager.  In addition to hospitality, Ryan's diverse background includes playing college baseball, graduating from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a degree in Cultural Anthropology and spent five years in the finance industry.  Ryan joined the ClubCorp team in 2008 as a Food & Beverage Manager and was promoted quickly to Banquet Manager, Service Director and finally Food & Beverage Director during his six years at Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club.Ryan served as the Director of Operations at ClubCorp's Morgan Run Club & Resort in Rancho Santa Fe for most of 2014. He also acted as Interim General Manager for three months and enjoyed working with Morgan Run's talented team. Ryan is thrilled to be reunited with the Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club team as the Director of Operations.  He enjoys spending time with his three beautiful children along with snowboarding, skiing as well as playing baseball, golf and tennis whenever he can find the time.

Kris Waagen

Role: Director of Golf Course Maintenance

Kristian grew up in England, in the market town of Rugby, Warwickshire, a stone’s throw from places like Stratford-upon-Avon and Coombe Abbey.  After high school, he joined the Royal Marines and served with 45 Commando specializing in mountain and arctic warfare, spending all his career in the mountains of Scotland or Arctic Norway.  Upon leaving the Royal Marines, he became a police officer in London for almost 5 years.  An encounter with his brother-in-law, professional golfer, Tony Jacklin saw him move to Spain to help build the San Roque Golf Club.  In a short time, he developed a keen interest in the work and within a few months had enrolled at Michigan State University where he later graduated from the Turf Management Program in 1991.Since then Kris has constructed 5 golf courses in Norway, England, Trinidad & Tobago, Lithuania, and Morocco, managing two of those as the superintendent.  He has also served a total of 14 years as the superintendent at courses in Michigan, Vermont, California, and most recently at Marbella Country Club.Kris is married to Megan, a native of California and they have a three-year-old daughter Anna who already knows terms like “are we going to set irrigation” or  “are we going to set cups” and can on occasion be seen checking the courses with him in the late afternoon.Outside of work, Kris likes to participate in workouts at his local CrossFit gym, walk his two Rhodesian Ridgebacks, and listen to the chatter of his daughter while marveling at the developing mind of a three-year-old.

Tom Blair

Role: Director of Food & Beverage

Born and raised in Southern California, Tom grew up splitting time between his parents in Yorba Linda and Porterville.  He lived the typical Southern California life, skateboarding and playing soccer and while in Porterville, he raised horses and rode motorcycles. Like many California kids, he got his career started at Disneyland. His adventures began on the Jungle Book Cruise and ended eight years later as a Disney University Leader where he trained cast members on different positions in the park. He also played a role in writing the mission statement for "Walt Disney Attractions." Tom is a graduate of Esperanza High School and Rancho Santiago Community College with an Associate of Fine Arts in Fire Technology. His twenty-five years in the food and beverage industry began as a bartender. He quickly climbed his way up the ladder to become a corporate trainer and eventually a general manager and soon he was opening new restaurants. He has spent time working with restaurants such as TAPS Fish House and Brewery, Cafe Tu Tu Tango, Bubba Gump, and Elephant Bar Concepts.  While working as an Executive General Manager for the Patina Group, Tom soon found himself as the Director of Restaurant Operations at Live Nation House of Blues before joining us and ClubCorp.  When Tom is not working, he is an avid golfer and competitive shooter - a true outdoorsman! He is an accomplished musician as a drummer and singer. He has an interest in writing comedies and also enjoys spending time with his son, Brandon.
