Monica Davis

Monica Davis is the General Manager at Crow Canyon Country Club. She is no stranger to golf and has been in the golf and country club business for nearly 25 years. Most recently Monica was the Regional Director for American Golf in Orange County, CA, serving as General Manager at Coyote Hills Golf Course with the direct oversight of five additional properties. During Monica’s nearly 20 years with American Golf, she had the great fortune of working in San Diego, Hawaii, New York and Orange County.

Monica has played golf since childhood, learning the great sport from her grandparents. In the early years of her golf career, she had great aspirations to teach golf. She was a member of the LPGA Teaching Division, but learned after a few seasons of teaching, she preferred being a club manager. Monica found the manager role was more rewarding and allowed her to be more impactful to the members and employees alike.

Monica is originally from San Diego and attended San Diego State University. She is a Charger fan regardless of their performance or new hometown. In addition to golf, Monica enjoys exploring new cities, beach vacations and helping people with both their personal and professional goals.

Jesse Skinner

Jesse spent the last 12 years running full-service restaurants such as P.F. Chang’s and Paul Martin’s American Grill. Prior to his restaurant career, he spent 5 years as the Assistant Golf Professional at The Bridges Golf Club. Following his time at The Bridges, he was lucky enough to spend a couple years chasing his dream of Professional Golf on mini-tours. 
He has been an East Bay resident since 1994. He currently lives in Pleasanton with his wife Tamara and their children Dylan, Taylor, and Ryder. 
He is a die hard golfer and enjoys playing anytime he has the chance. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends and is an avid fan of the Bay Area sports teams.

Melanie Emig

Melanie has been in the hospitality industry since 2003. 

Melanie has built a rapport with many members of Crow Canyon and enjoys knowing that she helps to make people’s experience at the Club both personal and meaningful. Member interaction is Melanie’s favorite part of her job and takes pride in the fact that members are able to put a face to her name.

Melanie is a native Californian, born and raised in Danville, where she resides with her husband and daughter. When she is not at the Club, Melanie enjoys spending time with her family, friends and anything related to animals, movies, the San Francisco 49ers and the San Francisco Giants.  

Dawn Manley

Dawn comes to us from the non-profit industry, where she spent many years involved in environmental education and captive animal management. She was responsible not only for the care and feeding of wild animals but for animal care professionals and volunteers as well. Her management experience includes the three R’s; recruitment, retention, and recognition.Throughout her career, Dawn has been able to employ her passion for food and party planning in assisting and coordinating events of all sizes. She excited to bring her skills to the Crow Canyon team in the spirit of “Building Relationships and Enriching Lives”.Dawn lives in Martinez with her husband, Brent and two daughters, Brooke and Talyn. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching her older daughter play softball, cooking, and watching her favorite football team, the Green Bay Packers.

Kymberlie Avila

I grew up in Sonoma County and was lured into the world of food and wine. I turned my hobby of wedding and event planning into a career working in wineries and hotels, with over 15 years of event planning and hospitality experience.

I spent the last year and a half at Google on an R&D project called Project Loon which was fascinating; however, I am so excited to be back in Private Events doing what I love!  I am thrilled to be the Private Events Director at Crow Canyon Country Club and be a part of the ClubCorp family!

I live in Pleasanton with my amazing daughter Marisa and our adorable rescue dog from Guatemala, Bailey.  I am a die-hard foodie, I love to cook and plan events. I am also passionate about volunteering, wine tastings, concerts, bike riding, hiking, rafting, road trips, her Pug Brody and a love for microbrewed beer!  

Colleen Laughlin

Born and raised on the Central Coast, Colleen received her BS in Event Planning and Management from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Over the last 7 years, she has gained experience in planning and coordinating weddings, managing catering teams, and corporate events. For the past few years, Colleen worked as an Account Manager and found herself wanting to get back into her passion for event planning. Colleen is now a part of the Crow Canyon family and couldn’t be more excited to be doing what she loves! She lives in Martinez with her husband and two pets. On her free time, she loves planning events for her friends, playing recreational sports, traveling, wine tasting and trying new restaurants.

Frank Palmer

Role: Executive Chef

Chef Frank Palmer brings a long and storied culinary career to Crow Canyon Country Club. A native Californian, he graduated with high honors from the California Culinary Academy.  Frank has been an Executive Chef for 25 years working at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in San Francisco where he cooked and trained in Hong Kong and Thailand, additionally, he worked at Hotel Majestic in Pacific Heights and the Lafayette Park Hotel.

Frank also was Culinary Director for a local restaurant group and oversaw all the culinary operations for Bing Crosby’s, Maria Maria, Joe DiMaggio’s Italian Chop House, McCovey’s, Rooftop and Coffee Shop Restaurants in the bay area, southern California, Arizona, and Austin Texas.

Most recently Chef Frank served as Executive Chef of Diablo Country Club where he enjoyed the diversity of daily operations that highlighted his experience in multiple cuisines.

Chef Frank has won Diablo Magazine Best Chef of the East Bay three times and the restaurants under his direction have won numerous awards for best in the bay area.

In his spare time, Frank enjoys spending time with his wife Tracey and four adult children, gardening, local sports teams and plays guitar in a local classic rock band called Delta Road.

Doug Giannini

A native Californian, born in Fremont and raised in Danville. Doug played his high school golf here at Crow Canyon from 2000-2003 before going to Arizona State University, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness along with getting his Class “A” PGA degree in 2007.
He has worked at a number of different clubs including the Bridges Golf Club, Diablo Country Club, Harding Park Golf Course, Las Sendas Golf Club, Firerock Country Club, Crystal Springs Golf Course, and Callippe Preserve Golf Course.
Doug resides in Livermore with his wife Sanonda and son Keegan along with their two cats Puma and Scotty Cameron. Doug enjoys spending time with his family, friends, wine tasting, going to sporting events, breweries, and of course, playing golf!

Jim Collins, PGA

Jim Collins, PGA, is our Director of Instruction (Full-time employee) is directing the Crow Canyon Junior Academy. Jim is available for private lessons for both adults and kids of all playing abilities.

Most recently, Jim was the General Manager at San Ramon Golf Club from 2005-2015.  For more than 30 years, Jim has facilitated over 20,000 private lessons and 50 golf schools, and he has received numerous awards for his contributions to the game of golf.  Jim is a “Quarter Century” member of the PGA of America and served as President of the NCPGA in 2000-2001.

His past positions include Director of Golf at Coyote Creek Golf Club, Head Professional at Pajaro Valley Golf Club, Head Professional at Contra Costa Country Club and First Assistant at Sequoyah Country Club. 

“Coach Jim” a Bay Area native also coached basketball and golf at Bishop O’Dowd High School from 1979-1990.  More recently, Jim coached basketball and golf at Dublin High School from 2009-2013.

Jim initially launched the SRGC Academy, (Currently the CCJA) Crow Canyon Junior Academy doing business as the United States Youth Golf Academy, in the summer of 2006 with 12 cadets. Currently, we have more than 100 cadets enrolled in the CCJA!


“Coach Jim” Jim guided team "SRGC Strong" to capture the 2014 PGA Junior League National Championship. 

He joined the De La Salle High School golf staff in 2014 as the Course Management Director.

Jim is currently the Tournament Director for The US Kids Bay Area Tour. He facilitates over 20 events annually which average approximately 170 kids per event. 

Jim was selected as one of the "Top 50" US Kids Instructors of the United States in 2011, 2012, 2013 and selected as "Master Teacher" in 2014.

Jim was named The East Bay High School "Coach of the Year" in 2012.

“Coach Jim” has a passion for teaching the game of golf.  His friendly disciplined approach with kids is appreciated by the parents and his knowledge on how to develop kids into better golfers is very strong. 

With adults, Jim focuses on diagnosing swing problems that may be the result of a lack of range of motion, core strength and other physical restraints. In most cases, Jim will suggest certain exercises to build strength and range of motion which will allow you to increase speed and the width of your swing.  Jim also uses a variety of teaching aids including video analysis, power fans, bosu balls and the Explanar swing device to assist the student.

Dan Quinn

Golf is Dan’s passion! Dan grew up on the outskirts of London and fell in love with the game at age 14. Since that time Dan has been an avid golfer and has had a single figured handicap since the age of 15. He studied Sportsturf Management in England and also attended The Ohio State University through the 'international program' where he had the opportunity to study at the university and intern at Robert Trent Jones G.C and Cypress Point Club.
From there Dan returned to England to take a role as assistant superintendent at Woburn Golf Club, a Top-100 course in GB&I.
Dan married an American girl from the Bay Area, Danville to be exact which brought them back to the area to be close to family where he became the assistant superintendent at Round Hill Country Club. After 15 years in the business, Dan is experienced and ready to lead the maintenance team at Crow Canyon Country Club. In his spare time, Dan likes to play golf, watch movies and entertain his daughter Bethany.

Stephen Ward

Role: Head Tennis Professional
Serving Since: 1995

Stephen grew up in San Francisco and went to college at Canada College in Woodside California. After one year, he I transferred to University of Oregon and played on the tennis team. Following his college career, Stephen played nationally and internationally and achieved a world ranking. He was fortunate to be sponsored by the Lear Jet Corporation.

Upon leaving competitive tennis, Stephen began teaching tennis at the Vertical Club in New York City. After two years, he relocated in Los Altos Hills, California and worked as the assistant pro at the Fremont Hills Tennis Club for two years. Stephen accepted the Director of Tennis position at the Modesto Racquet Club and stayed there for six years.

Stephen enjoys spending time with his wife and their two dogs. He also aspires to win a national championship in senior tennis and is an active golfer.

Ethan Hall

Role: Aquatics Director

Ethan Hall is the Club’s aquatics director and has been the Club’s swim coach since 2003. 

Ethan has coached the Sea Lions to County Meet Team Championships from in 2005 - 2008 and from 2011 - 2015. He coached the Sharks to a Long Course Far Western Team Championship in 2010.  Ethan was the U.S. National Record breaker in the 15-16 200 meter Breaststroke and an Olympic Trials participant in 1996 and 2000.  He swam collegially at both UNC-Chapel Hill and UC-Santa Barbara.  He was the UNC record breaker in the 200 yard Breaststroke in 1999 and the Big West Conference Champion in 100 yard Breaststroke in 2001.  Ethan was also given UCSB's Athletic Department Golden Eagle Award in 2002 for the Highest GPA. 

Ethan has helped more than 35 student athlete get college scholarships for swimming. He is a big time football fan and loves to travel. He lives in Lafayette with his wife Natalie, bulldog Dozer, and border terrier She-Ra.
