Hole 1 | Par 4: Remember this throughout your round - you do not need to hit your driver all the time to play this course well! For the first hole, start with a three-wood or driver but watch out: too good of a tee shot may end up in a down-slope. Play to the 150 yard marker and get your 7-iron to the smallest green on the course. Accuracy is essential on both shots.
Hole 2 : Par 4: Start with a three-wood from the tee with a slight draw and you’ll keep your ball in excellent shape for a short iron second shot into the left side of the green. Pay attention to the flag color and the elevation change, as you will usually need more club than you think.
Hole 3 | Par 5: The first par-5 of your round will take a driver or three-wood down the middle. Aim for the chimney (on the house 400 yards away) for a good target. Reachable in two, but a safe play is a three-wood, five-iron and wedge into a well-bunkered green.
Hole 4 | Par 3: A good shot to this two–tiered green with a mid to short iron will leave you with a chance for birdie. Make sure you take enough club, as the green is above you.
Hole 5 | Par 4: A three-wood with a draw or a driver will leave you with a mid iron into this green. The tee shot is the key to making a birdie or par on this one.
Hole 6 | Par 5: Time for a drive on this par-5...no question on this one. Your second shot can be a long iron or three-wood and then you will be left with a wedge in. Make sure that your second shot is long enough to pass the bottleneck and you will have a great approach area to hit from.
Hole 7 | Par 3: On this seventh hole a mid iron will do off the tee. Aim to the right and draw it close to the pin; the left side is guarded by a bunker.
Hole 8 | Par 4: On the eighth hole, you’ll want to bring out your driver and take it right down the middle or possibly hit it with a slight cut and you’ll have an easy mid-iron shot into this green. A well hit tee shot is a must and if you happen to miss, just chip out and walk off with a bogey (at most); don’t get cute with this hole.
Hole 9 | Par 4: Aim on right side and hit a draw to the middle of the fairway. Watch out for the water on the left and the out of bounds on the right but take advantage of the abundance of fairway in the middle. For the second shot, you’ll want to do more of the same and aim to the right edge of the green. Draw it in if you have that shot; if not, you can bounce it off the hill onto the green.
Hole 10 | Par 5: Start your back nine right with a long drive off the tee - this is almost a 600 yard hole. A good tee shot leaves you with a downhill shot into the landing area where a short iron will get you on the green. Just keep it straight and the drop in elevation will make the hole play shorter than the card reads. Your approach shot will be over the pond to the green on this gorgeous hole.
Hole 11 | Par 3: Whew, this hole is short but treacherous. Beautiful rock formations surround this hole and the water fountain in the pond may distract you. Focus on the yardage and make sure to take enough club to avoid the false front on the green.
Hole 12 | Par 4: Climb the hill on this upward hole to a three–tiered green which is fast and tough. Take one or even two more clubs than you think, as you are really hitting to a green above you. Leave your second shot short of the hole, take a par and be happy.
Hole 13 | Par 3: A beautiful par 3 with a drop of about 40 feet. You can use a little less stick on this one and aim on the right side of the green. Some players actually hole it out and hit it off the bank.
Hole 14 | Par 4: Some choose to try to drive this one but make sure no one is on the green before you go for it. Personally, we think a hybrid or long iron to the landing areas followed by a short iron to this blind hole is a much smarter play. The hole is not long but the dogleg is 90 degrees and if you play your cards right, you have a great opportunity for birdie.
Hole 15 | Par 4: Not a driver hole for most, as you will reach the water in just 240 yards. A good three-wood towards the fairway bunker with a draw is preferred. From the fairway, you’ll have a mid-iron over the water. To make sure it stays dry, take enough club to get it over the water.
Hoel 16 | Par 3: A beautiful par-3 over water finishes this tour of the prettiest area on the course where four greens and two tee boxes meet around the cascading water fountain. There is plenty of room so focus on the green and be sure to hit enough club. A bunker guards the back right of the green.
Hole 17 | Par 5: A driver is a fine choice here, hitting to a fairway well below the tee box. Hitting a fairway wood or long iron on your second shot will leave you with a short iron to the green. The rock formation behind the green looks fantastic as a backdrop but don’t get distracted. This green is long so get the ball all the way to the pin by choosing the correct club. If you miss, you should miss to the right.
Hole 18 | Par 4: All you’ll see on this par-4 are bunkers and more bunkers around the green. This hole features 10 bunkers and demands both a good drive and a solid second shot. This eighteenth hole is our number one handicapped hole for a reason, a great finisher to close a match against your opponents.
