Junior Developmental Pathways - Learn, Train, Compete

The Clubs of Kingwood offers comprehensive junior tennis pathways for players of all levels and ages. The pathway embodies the development of both the player and the person. Coaches help players identify and achieve their goals along their pathway. Below is a summary of classes within the Junior Developmental Pathways. Scholarship Academy 1

This program is for players who have previously qualified for the Championship and SuperChampionship level in Texas. Students will qualify for this class through the new USTA tournament system. This class will focus on the game's higher-level technical and tactical aspects. Students will receive this feedback through pro-fed drills (Monday), match play (Wednesday) and live ball drills (Thursday). Players are also encouraged to compete in monthly tournaments to maintain a competitive level.

Scholarship Academy 2

This program is for players who never qualified for the Championship or SuperChampionship level in Texas but compete in tournaments. These students will still refine their fundamentals, rally and match skills to reach the next level. Students will train with live ball (Monday), pro-fed drills (Thursday) and match play (Wednesday). Please look at the Program Movement Guidelines to qualify for SA1.

Scholarship Academy 3

This program is for junior players who are in the early stages of tournament play. These players every week will work on their technique through pro-fed drills, live ball drills and point play. The students will train with pro-fed drills (Tuesday), live ball (Friday) and match play (Wednesday). Please look at the Program Movement Guidelines to qualify for SA2.

H.S. Play

This program is for junior players who are in the early stages of development. These players every week will work on their technique through pro-fed drills, live ball drills and point play. Players in this class should utilize the Club match play days and Club tournaments for continued improvement.

Challengers

This class is for ten and under players who already have the fundamentals. These players are already competing in orange ball and green ball tournaments. Players will work on technical and tactical improvement through pro-fed drills (Tuesday), live ball (Friday) and match play (Wednesday). This class does require professional approval. Players in this class should utilize the match play days and Club tournaments for continued improvement.

Futures

This class is for ten and under players who are demonstrating rally skills and fundamentals, which allow the student to work with other students to play points and matches. Players will enhance their skills through live ball (Tuesday), pro-fed drills (Thursday) and match play (Wednesday). This class does require professional approval. Players in this class should utilize the match play days and Club tournaments for continued improvement.

Aces

This class is for our young players who are already developing rally skills. This class has limited space and does require professional approval. We will introduce the other basics through live ball, point play, and match play. Players in this class should utilize the red ball match play days and Club tournaments for continued improvement.

Tiny Tots

This class is for young players five years old to 12 years old. Players will be introduced to tennis by working on essential hand-eye coordination and striking skills. Cooperation and fun will be emphasized.
