Frank joined the University Club team as General Manager in January 2015, bringing with him great experience in the restaurant industry. Prior to this, Frank was consecutively 16 years the owner and operator of Café Pacifica in Old Town and the General Manager of Stone Brewing Bistro and Gardens in Escondido for five years. He embraces membership and is delighted to take the time to make each and every member happy in the Club.
Frank first came to San Diego biking cross-country from Washington DC. He stayed in San Diego ever since and where he lives with his wonderful wife and two teenage kids.
Jeff started his career with the University Club in 2015, as the Food & Beverage Director. Over the next three and a half years, Jeff’s goal was to create the ultimate dining experience built around consistent service and amazing food. In March of 2018, Jeff with his wife Jennifer and baby daughter Harper, moved to Seattle to work at the Columbia Tower Club. After a little over a year as General Manager of the Columbia Tower Club, Jeff is returning to the University Club as your new ClubLife Manager with a focus on driving the member experience.
Kayle started with The University Club in 2016 as the Member Relations Coordinator. After a year and a half with the Club, she went to work for the Chargers as the team kicked off their first season in Los Angeles. In 2018, Kayle returned to The University Club and now serves as Director of Membership alongside Caroline Freiberg.
Mitch joined us at the University Club in May of 2019. Coming from a 15-year career in banking, he truly understands the importance of creating memorable member experiences. Outside of the Club, Mitch enjoys working on his vintage Volkswagens, playing with his dogs and spending time with his family and friends. As Director of Membership, Mitch very much enjoys creating and fostering relationships with San Diego’s business and social leaders.
Kristi grew up on Long Island in Huntington, NY, and attended East Stroudsburg University where she graduated with a B.S. in Hospitality Management. Her tenured work experience includes several Director of Catering positions at numerous hotels including the U.S. Grant Hotel, Marriott La Jolla and opening the Hilton Bayfront Hotel. In the midst of her hotel adventures, she started working at the University Club in 1999 until the latter part of 2006 as the sole Private Event Director and recently returned in December 2015.
Kristi enjoys cooking and entertaining at home and loves her two dogs and cat. She also plays softball 3 and is passionate about planning events, food, wine, animals, friends and outdoor activities.
Cheryl is a native to California and has over 25 years of hospitality experience. She managed several restaurants before moving into Director of Sales for high-end catering companies. From there, Cheryl was one of the owners and founders of Cosmopolitan Catering Company. Cheryl then went off on her own, providing event planning for many local non-profits and corporate clients. Prior to joining The University Club, Cheryl was a Private Events Director at our sister club, Silicon Valley Capital Club, in San Jose. Cheryl enjoys interacting with members and working to provide successful events.
Cheryl is the mother to two children and two grandchildren. In her free time, she loves traveling, dining at San Diego local restaurants, and watching her hometown San Jose Sharks & SF Giants.

Lance has worked in the Food & Beverage industry since he was fifteen years old, starting at Loli’s, a French restaurant in Ohio. He completed a three-year ACF apprenticeship program with CIA in Columbus, Ohio and continued his career in the culinary field in California. Since 2005, he has been consecutively Executive Chef at Tom Hams Lighthouse, Rancho Valencia, La Valencia Hotel. Lance joined the University Club as Executive Chef in 2015. Lance particularly enjoys reinventing the Club’s menu using local and seasonal ingredients. He also serves on the board of Chef Celebration, a local non-profit dedicated to culinary education.
Kat began her career at the University Club in 2012 as a receptionist and transitioned from other roles before becoming the Office Manager. She graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her baby, weekends at Disneyland, and going on foodie adventures.
Danielle started with the University Club in 2014, raised in Vegas she is no stranger to the hospitality and food and beverage industry. She graduated from University of Nevada Las Vegas and is a level 1 sommelier. She is here to assist you with all your service, food and/ or beverage questions or concerns.
Tasha started at the University Club in 2016 working alongside the Private Events team. In the fall of 2018, she was promoted to the Member Relations department. As Member Relations Coordinator, Tasha's focus is on programming and communications. She acts as the Club liaison within the 14 committees and helps coordinate the Member events.
