Our Story

About Seminole Legacy Golf Club

Formerly known as Don Veller Seminole Golf Course, the Club recently completed a comprehensive renovation of its golf facilities under the direction of the Nicklaus Design company.

The golf course was originally designed by Bill Amick and opened to the public in 1962. For years, the Club has served as the home of Florida State University’s men’s and women’s golf teams. The renovation of the Club has effectively repositioned Seminole Legacy as one of the top collegiate golf clubs in the U.S.

The scope of the renovation includes a complete redesign of the golf course, with only one hole remaining from the original routing.  All tees, fairways, rough, bunkers, greens and cart paths are new. Additionally, the old Don Veller course sat on about 210 acres, which included two driving ranges, a small short game area for the golf teams and a 7,147-yard par-73 golf course. The new golf course will be 7,800 yards and a par 72, sitting on 174 acres, including the two ranges and a new 12-hole par three course for the golf teams.

Additional amenities include The Burr Family Renegade Grill™, a state-of-the-art clubhouse, a fully stocked Golf Pro Shop and on-site PGA-certified staff who can assist players of all ages and abilities.

Section 2. Dress Code. At all times on the golf course and practice areas, men and women (a) must wear collared shirts (except that shirts without collars may be worn only if they have sleeves and were specifically designed for golf), (b) shorts must be of Bermuda-length or a style made for and designed for golf; (c) slacks are acceptable. Hats must be worn with the bill facing forward.  All shirts must be tucked in except for golf shirts specifically designed to be worn untucked and Camp (Tommy Bahama style) shirts.  The following types of clothing are prohibited on the golf course: denim of any kind, shorts with an inseam of less than six inches, cutoffs, tennis shorts or running shorts, tennis-length skirts, t-shirts, tank tops, sweatshirts and warm-up suits.  If you are in doubt concerning your attire, please check with the golf shop.
