During the pandemic, I was craving a water-based workout, despite never having had one before. When a postcard arrived in my mailbox for Athletic and Swim, I took it as a sign. I joined at the end of March. Three months later, I was in the habit of working out 4-5 times a week and lost the 17 lbs I had gained during Covid. Working out at Athletic and Swim always feels like more of a treat, than an obligation. The refreshing pool, the stillness of the studios for quiet stretching, and the pristine cleanliness of the equipment are unparalleled amenities you’ll find in few other gyms in the city.

Athletic & Swim Club offers water programs for every level of swimmer.

Our pool maintains its' cleanliness and allure using Ultraviolet (UV) pool sanitizers, a cutting-edge, non-chemical process that uses germicidal UV light rays to sanitize water, air and surfaces that may be contaminated. Ultraviolet pool sanitizers emit a high-intensity germicidal light ray that alters or disrupts the DNA or RNA of targeted organisms such as algae, bacteria, viruses, cysts and protozoa. The highly concentrated electromagnetic energy also destroys organic matter, eliminating the formation of dangerous chlorine by-products.

Swimming Instruction

It is never too late to learn to swim. Regular swimming builds endurance, muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness. It’s a low-impact activity that can serve as a cross-training component or a change of pace to go along with your regular fitness plan. We offer a beautiful 25-yard Junior Olympic-sized lap pool, one of the few found in NYC.

Our certified instructors are experienced in working with all skill levels. They can help with a few refresher lessons, or challenge those seeking to master their skills. Lessons are available seven days a week by scheduled appointment. The Club has a variety of rates and packages available. Swim instruction is available in 25-minute and 55-minute sessions.
