LOCAL QUALIFYING

Each club will hold local qualifying tournaments to select their team. Check with your Golf Professional/Club Representative for details. The Golf Professional/Club Representative will determine the handicap percentage for local qualifiers.

Rules of Play

U.S.G.A. RULES WILL GOVERN ALL PLAY WITH THE FOLLOWING LOCAL RULES: EQUIPMENT

BALL PLACEMENT

  • On the tee shot only, you may place the ball within one club-length of the selected shot, but not nearer the hole. If a selected shot is played from a rough, hazard, fairway, sand bunker or fringe of the green, the ball may be placed within one club-length of the selected shot, not nearer the hole, and it must remain in the rough, hazard, fairway, sand bunker or on the fringe of the green.
    (club length = 45 inches)
  • A teammate may stand behind a player to help determine the line.
  • Delayed Pace of play will result in one warning and then a one-stroke penalty for the second offense.

DETERMINING FINAL WINNERS

At the national tournament, a sudden-death playoff will be used to determine the winning team in case of ties. Each team’s final round quota will be divided by 18 and rounded to the nearest tenth to determine the per hole quota.

After all teams have completed the playoff hole, the team to exceed or get closer to their quota wins the playoff. Playoff will be on Champions Course at completion of tournament play, beginning with holes #10, #17 #18 until a winner is determined.

SUBSTITUTES

If a team member(s) is unable to play once the national tournament has started, a player may be substituted with Tournament Committee Approval. Quota points will be refigured based on the substitute’s current handicap index.

TEES

  • Menwillplayfromregulartees, seniors(age65+actual handicap index =75) will play from senior tees, lady golf professionals will play from the senior tees and lady amateurs will play from ladies tees.

Lowest Handicap Index for past nine months will be used to determine team quota.

EQUIPMENT

DETERMINING TEAM QUOTA

Depending on handicaps, the team quota may be different on each course.

Quotas will be adjusted daily based on the course you are playing that day.

USGA Handicap Manual

Rule 3-5 Explanation

For individuals playing different tees, we will use Section 3-5 to reduce handicap vs the “base” course per USGA guidelines. This handicap will be used to determine the initial quota. (For example players 1, 2, and 3 play regular tees and each have handicap indexes that computes to 10. Player 4 plays the senior tees and his handicap is 16. The difference in the course rating is 2.0 so Player 4’s handicap becomes 14 as he is playing different tees. These handicap values will be used to determine initial team quota per chart that is attached (In this case the total team handicap is 44 after the adjustment.) Individual handicaps will remain the same for all 3 rounds as per above. Quotas will still be adjusted following each round.

2021 ClubLife Champions Classic Recap

The 2021 ClubLife Champions Classic presented by PORSCHE welcomed more than 400 attendees to PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Players and guests in the Ross and Fazio Divisions were welcomed to the event with a “build your own gift bag” program supported by ClubCorp apparel and equipment partners Callaway Golf, Taylor Made, Adidas Golf, Titleist Footjoy, Greg Norman Collection, and Under Armour.

With Tournament rounds on three of PGA’s signature golf courses, including The Champion, which hosts the resort’s annual PGA TOUR Championship, attendees worked up quite an appetite. While the resort provided a wide variety of delicious cuisine, event sponsors Duckhorn Wines, Dewar’s Scotch, Amstel Light and Fever-Tree, makers of world-class mixers, kept all guests fully hydrated throughout the event.

In the Ross Division, the Club at Falcon Point captured a rare double-dip taking Champion and Runners-Up honors. The Ross Division winners are pictured below.

In the Fazio Division, Diamond Run CC Team #1 outlasted a hard-charging Oak Pointe #1 team in the final round to take top honors. The Fazio Division winners are pictured below.

Perhaps the coolest experience of all for attendees was the PORSCHE Ride and Drive Experience.  Attendees in both divisions were treated to a 50-minute lead-follow test drive that allowed guests to understand the comfort, style and performance provided by PORSCHE’s line-up of current vehicle models.

Planning for next year’s ClubLife Champions Classic is already underway. Bookmark this web page and check back periodically for more details.
