Lunch & Learn: Gary Lowman
Gary Lowman: My Journey as a U.S. Diplomat Gary Lowman joined the Department of State in 2009 and served as a Vice Consul for his first two tours in Shanghai, China and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He then served as the Environment, Science, Technology, and Health Officer in Maputo, Mozambique. After that he served as the Deputy Visa Chief in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. He most recently completed his tour as the Visa Chief in Dakar, Senegal. He will begin German language training at the Foreign Service Institute in Arlington, Virginia this fall before heading to Berlin, Germany for his next assignment as the Consular Chief. Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Gary worked as an attorney in Atlanta where he practiced products liability litigation for a large law firm based in Miami, Florida. He also previously taught second grade in New York City as a Teach for America corps member. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Wake Forest University, a Master of Science in Education from Pace University, and a Juris Doctorate from Wake Forest University Law School.
